AEW Collision and BOTB XII Preview for October 19, 2024

It's been quite a week for All Elite Wrestling already, and it ain't over yet! After a landscape-shifting edition of DYNAMITE, and a tremendous night of action with RAMPAGE, AEW is right back at it with three hours of action for your Saturday night! We've got COLLISION, followed by BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII, and it's all filled with the best professional wrestling on the planet! For COLLISION, the AEW World Trios Championship will be on the line when Action Andretti & Top Flight challenge Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta, plus we will see The House of Black in trios action, AR Fox answering Ricochet's Open Challenge, Harley Cameron taking on Kris Statlander, Kyle Fletcher looking to even the score with Atlantis Jr., and The Outrunners taking on LFI of RUSH and The Beast Mortos!

Then we dive into BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII where AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May faces Anna Jay in an Eliminator Match, AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada puts his title on the line against The Conglomeration's Kyle O'Reilly, and Don Callis' newest acquisitions, Lance Archer and ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage, will be in tag team action!

It all begins when COLLISION kicks off at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TNT, immediately followed by BOTB XII, so sure to visit AEW's official YouTube channel to catch-up on highlights from this week's DYNAMITE and RAMPAGE, previous editions of COLLISION, highlights form WRESTLEDREAM '24 week, and so much more! Then join us in Salt Lake City next Wednesday night when ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe fights Chris Jericho in Ladder War, and The Elite are in trios action against Garcia and Private Party!

AEW WORLD TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

Claudio Castagnoli, “The Bastard” PAC, & Wheeler Yuta(c) vs.

Action Andretti & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin)

After the chaos that erupted backstage at DYNAMITE, Action Andretti and Top Flight challenged Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta to a championship fight tonight on COLLISION! They are fed up with what Jon Moxley and his crew have done to AEW over the last month, and hope o stem the tides of violence by taking the AEW World Trios away from their unit! The champions are quite familiar with two-thirds of this unit, having made their first defense of the titles against Top Flight and Lio Rush six weeks ago, while the Claudio/Yuta team holds a 2-1 record of the Martin Brothers in tag team competition while PAC, in his previous AEW World Trios title reign, scored victory over Top Flight and AR Fox in a title defense.

But now there's a different tone to this fight, it's about more than just the titles, it's about the future of All Elite Wrestling and who is going to fight against the escalating violence unleashed by the AEW World Champion and his allies! Can Action, Darius, and Dante finally soar to the top of the trios division when there's so much at stake?

OPEN CHALLENGE...

Ricochet vs. AR Fox

Here are two men with a history dating back 14 years to a multi-man Ladder Match inside South Philly's world-famous Arena. From there they've battled in eight one-on-one matches as well as five additional singles bouts in the form of Four Ways and Six Mans. They've been both friend and foe in tags, trios, and other multi-man affairs, but when it comes to those crucial head-to-head clashes, Ricochet and AR Fox are in a dead heat with four wins a piece.

So it makes sense that Fox would be the one to step up and answer Ricochet's Open Challenge from DYNAMITE, especially considering their last two singles matches went in Ricochet's favor. It doesn't matter that they were in 2013 and 2014, or that theirs is an issue that's been buried since 2017, what matters is that Ricochet has a lot of eyes on him right now and AR Fox aims to fix them on him instead tonight on COLLISION.

Ospreay aside, there are few men in AEW who know what Ricochet is capable of as well as AR Fox, but that goes both ways, meaning this could be quite the intriguing chess match. Will Fox spoil Ricochet's quest to get at Takeshita and the AEW International Championship?

TAG TEAM BATTLE...

LFI (RUSH & The Beast Mortos) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

As seen in the video above, LFI had their eyes on FTR this past Wednesday night after the 2-Time AEW World Tag Champions were victorious against The Learning Tree but so did their new gym buddies The Outrunners. Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd have found bonded with Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood over the last few weeks, but it looks like that bond has brought them into a tag team conflict with La Faccion Ingobernable tonight on COLLISION! The Outrunners have been building up some steam with two consecutive televised tag team victories, one over Grizzled Young Veterans and three total if you factor in their ROH victory over The Infantry, as well a multi-man win over Dark Order and Premier Athletes during WRESTLEDREAM 2024: ZERO HOUR.

Yet tonight they face a reinvigorated LFI in the form of RUSH and The Beast Mortos, and that should frighten Truth and Turbo like no other fight they've had to date in All Elite Wrestling or Ring of Honor. These are two men who like to hurt their foes, who enjoy violence, and who aim to make a statement regarding about the threat LFI represents. If The Outrunners manage to get their third consecutive AEW tag team victory tonight on COLLISION, they will certainly have earned it the hard way!

CMLL REMATCH...

Atlantis Jr. vs. “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher

Back on June 28th during CMLL's SUPER VIERNES event, Atlantis Jr. dethroned Kyle Fletcher as the ROH World Television Champion and though the competitors would share the ring two more times in CMLL in August, a 2-Of-3 Falls Trios Match and the Grand Prix Internacional 2024 Torneo Cibernetico, Fletcher never had an opportunity to regain the title.

Unfortunately he will not tonight either as “The Machine” Brian Cage brought Atlantis Jr.'s reign to an end during the WRESTLEDREAM 2024: ZERO HOUR, but at least that now means the title is back in The Don Callis Family camp. However there is still revenge to be had, and tonight during COLLISION “The Protostar” will have that opportunity when he squares off with Atlantis Jr. in their first singles match since the title change!

All eyes are on Kyle right now, and all ears are waiting for him to rationalize stabbing Will Ospreay in the back last Saturday night, but will Atlantis Jr. steal that spotlight away with a second victory over this DCF member?

SINGLES MATCH...

Kris Statlander vs. Harley Cameron

Kris Statlander has slowly found her way back from the very dark place she got dragged into as Stokely Hathaway whispered in her ear. There are certainly apologies to be made for her behavior, particularly to Willow Nightingale if the former TBS Champion wants to hear them, but there is no doubt what moment Stat points to as when she began to unravel: the arrival of Mercedes Moné. That being said, these were still all choices Statlander made herself, regardless of bad advice or the bad actors in her life, so she's got awhile to go before she gets right.

Tonight she begins that journey fighting one woman who has repeatedly, and quite consciously, made the decision to do wrong and relished every minute of it: Harley Cameron!

Now Harley may be flying solo at the moment as Saraya is off...incapacitated...but that doesn't make her any less dangerous, perhaps even more so given that the former AEW Women's World Champion may have been the only thing reigning Harley in from becoming a complete menace. How will Harley Cameron fair now that she's back on her own with this first-ever bout between herself and the former TBS Champion?

TRIOS BOUT...

Daniel Garcia & Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) vs.

Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Josh Woods, & Tony Nese)

Daniel Garcia and Private Party have stepped up to the plate in this war against AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta, but that's not all they've done. After the events of Wednesday night where The Elite ran from the fight after Moxley's crew interfered in their fight with The Conglomeration, Garcia, Zay, and Quen did not hesitate to confront The Young Bucks about their cowardice. Apparently the only one of the lot with any gumption, TNT Champion Jack Perry stepped up into Garcia's face but The Young Bucks begged off. Unfortunately for those EVP's, they won't be able to back down from the fight for long as they've got a date with Garcia and Private Party on Wednesday night's DYNAMITE.

To prepare for that match-up in Salt Lake City, Garcia and Private Party will be in trios action tonight on COLLISION as they face stiff competition in Premier Athletes! Though their win-loss record may not be the greatest in the trios division, there is no denying that Josh Woods, Ariya Daivari, and Tony Nese are a unit comprised of possibly the best conditioned athletes in AEW. One would be hard-pressed to find three men who train harder, clock more hours in the gym, monitor their diets, and do everything else necessary to stay finely tuned fighting machines, but will that dedication pay off in victory tonight? They've certainly got the experience edge in trios competitions over Garcia, Zay, and Quen as this is the first time they've ever been a unified trio in AEW, but do they have the fire that this nascent unit does after Wednesday night?

ALSO FEATURING:

-Orange Cassidy vs. Iron Savages' Bronson

-Jamie Hayter in action!

-House of Black in Trios competition!!

BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII

AEW CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

Kazuchika Okada(c) vs. Kyle O'Reilly

At WRESTLEDREAM 2024 Kyle O'Reilly stepped right into the face of Kazuchika Okada and politely requested a Continental Championship match, but when “The Rainmaker” rudely refused the ask, O'Reilly escalated the situation which led to security having to pull the two men apart in Tacoma. That prompted a trios match this past Wednesday between The Elite and The Conglomeration, and though the record books call it a victory for Kyle, Orange Cassidy, and Rocky Romero, it came via disqualification thanks to interference from Jon Moxley et al thus nothing was resolved between Okada and O'Reilly.

Well tonight we get that resolution as “The Rainmaker” puts the Continental Title on the line against Kyle O'Reilly in their first-ever singles match! They fought in NJPW's NEW YEAR'S DASH!! 2016 in a multi-man match, in ROH in tag team competition, as well as here in AEW when both participated in the ALL IN: LONDON 2024 Casino Gauntlet, but not one-on-one before tonight, and what a high stakes affair for their first encounter!

Will O'Reilly end the run with Okada's sixth defense, or will “The Rainmaker” continue to show the world that, all appearances to the contrary, he's still the man who main evented the Tokyo Dome multiple times and carried the IWGP Heavyweight Title seven times?

ELIMINATOR MATCH...

AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May vs. Anna Jay

Anna Jay is coming off an impressive victory over Trish Adora last night on RAMPAGE, one which “The Glamour” Mariah May watched from the safety of the commentary table, but gave the AEW Women's World Champion an idea of what to expect tonight.

ALSO FEATURING:

-The Don Callis Family of Lance Archer & ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage in action!

-And more!!
