AEW Collision Preview for February 1, 2025

DYNAMITE created the sort of chaos All Elite Wrestling has lived with since AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and his Death Riders rose to prominence. Their assault on Jay White after he defeated Wheeler Yuta directly led to COLLISION's Mid-South Street Fight between FTR and the Death Rider pair of Moxley/Yuta, just as their gang effort to prevent Jeff Jarrett from earning a World Title match in his fight with Claudio Castagnoli led Jarrett to disappear:

The words we heard from AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May have brought about tonight's appearance by “Timeless” Toni Storm ahead of their GRAND SLAM: AUSTRALIA championship clash, and we will also witness TNT Champion Daniel Garcia put his title on the line against both Kyle O'Reilly and ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty! HOOK and Samoa Joe are set to face The Patriarchy of Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne, The Beast Mortos will be in action, and “The Best Wrestler Alive” Max Caster has laid out an Open Challenge for tonight's event!

But that's not all; after an impressive return to AEW in the Women's Casino Gauntlet, Megan Bayne makes her COLLISION Debut, The Learning Tree clash with The Outrunners in tag team action, and Harley Cameron looks for her first TV victory when she faces Vendetta's Taya Valkyrie one-on-one!

COLLISION kicks off at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TNT, as well as streaming on MAX, and the AEW faithful can get prepared for all the excitement by visiting AEW's official YouTube channel to watch highlights from Wednesday's DYNAMITE, previous editions of COLLISION, Timelines, and so much more! Then Wednesday night All Elite Wrestling returns to the Atlanta area for the first time in five years with DYNAMITE hailing from the Gateway Center Arena and featuring the much-anticipated clash between Ricochet and Swerve Strickland!

MID-SOUTH STREET FIGHT...

Death Riders (AEW World Champion Jon Moxley & AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood)

There's an interesting development taking place right now in All Elite Wrestling that, to no surprise, centers around AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and his Death Riders. Since Mox, Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta began this reign of terror across the landscape of AEW, there have been those who've stepped up to do battle to varying degrees of success and with varied motivations.

Fans witnessed Top Flight, Dark Order, and Private Party, among others, step up to the plate early on, then it was Orange Cassidy who reluctantly took the lead for AEW against them, but he was brutalized at FULL GEAR 2024 in his bid to do it all alone. Hangman Page and Jay White ended up in the fray heading into WORLDS END 2024, but their reasons were entirely selfish and their concerns had little to do with the state of AEW under the helm of Jon Moxley. Even on the final edition of RAMPAGE that preceded that pay-per-view, when The Death Riders made sure Darby Allin was out of the picture by chucking him down a flight of stairs and created utter chaos throughout the Hammerstein Ballroom, the AEW locker room as a whole became more interested in settling their own disputes than uniting against The Death Riders. It allowed Jon and his soldiers to escape relatively unscathed and take over the production trucks in RAMPAGE's final moments.

Yet in the closing moments of WORLDS END, as AEW bid farewell to 2024, a trio of individuals stepped up to the plate on behalf of All Elite Wrestling: “The Rated R Superstar” Cope, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood! Since that night, Jon Moxley and The Death Riders have spent more time counting the lights than they have victory. In fact, in the three matches Moxley has participated in thus far in 2024, he's already 1-2. To put that in perspective, Mox only lost two matches over the course of 2024 while in 2022, his most prolific year with 46 matches in total, he lost just three times. So while it may seem that hope is lost, it's just the relentless nature of The Death Riders and their willingness to turn the aftermath of every match into a war zone that makes it feel as if they're dominating everyone else.

It seems the presence of Rated FTR in this fight has caused others to dedicate themselves to the fight. The Outrunners have stepped up into the fray with The Death Riders, especially after what Mox and his soldiers did to the Rock 'n' Roll Express, and it genuinely feels as if Jay White's presence in this is becoming less about “me” and more about “us”. There are so many individuals just fed up with hearing Moxley talk about his vision, with seeing what Death Riders have done to so many of their compatriots, but there are people willing to fight back, and that includes the former 2-Time World Tag Champions FTR!

After seeing what they did to Jay White on Wednesday night, Cash and Dax have challenged The Death Riders to meet them in a Mid-South Street Fight tonight on COLLISION! It will be AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta versus FTR and anything goes in this Street Fight! Will FTR hand The Death Riders leader his third loss of 2025, or will Mox and Yuta make a message out of Cash and Dax?

TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

Daniel Garcia(c) vs. ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs. Kyle O'Reilly

Last week on COLLISION Undisputed Kingdom of Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong scored a trios victory over TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and the returning Angelo Parker. Afterwards it became increasingly clear that all three members of UK had designs on the TNT Championship, but they weren't the only ones. Shane Taylor Promotions were sitting ringside watching the proceedings, and it looked like ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty had a particular interest in adding a second title to his trophy case.

Well tonight on COLLISION both STP and UK will have an opportunity to bring the TNT Championship under their respective umbrella because Daniel Garcia has agreed to put the belt on the line against both Kyle O'Reilly and Moriarty! Aside from the January 8th Casino Gauntlet won by Powerhouse Hobbs, O'Reilly and Garcia have never shared the ring in a singles bout while Moriarty has twice fallen to Garcia over the last few years, once on the 9/13/21 DARK: ELEVATION and again on the 3/16/24 COLLISION. Garcia, alongside Katsuyori Shibata, also holds a tag team victory over Moriarty and Shane Taylor from 4/27/24 COLLISION while O'Reilly was on that winning trio in last week's aforementioned contest.

Suffice to say Garcia has his work cut out for him tonight on COLLISION as the TNT Championship is defended for the fourth time in a Three-Way match, and history is not in the defending champion's favor here. At FULL GEAR 2022 Samoa Joe failed to defend his TNT Title, as did Luchasaurus at the 9/23/23 COLLISION, only Sammy Guevara was successful when challenged by two competitiors way back on the March 4, 2022 edition of RAMPAGE.

So whose footsteps will Garcia follow in, and will the outside factors of Shane Taylor Promotions, Undisputed Kingdom, or Menard/Parker play a role in this championship defense?

TAG TEAM BATTLE...

HOOK & Samoa Joe vs. The Patriarchy (Nick Wayne & Kip Sabian)

In the aftermath of Samoa Joe's return and subsequent victory over Nick Wayne last week during COLLISION, the pursuit of “The Patriarch” Christian Cage continues with Joe and HOOK taking on Cage's so-called “sons”, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne, in tag team action!

It's been a minute since HOOK and Joe have shared the ring together, not since a June 12th victory over Premier Athletes as a matter of fact, but this will be the first time Kip and Nick Wayne have ever operated as a tag team, so it's not as if there is a real experience edge on either side. What The Patriarchy pair have is a mutual desire to prove their worth to Christian Cage while Joe and HOOK intend to send the ALL IN: LONDON 2024 Casino Gauntlet winner the message that nothing is going to keep him safe from their wrath!

ONE-ON-ONE...

Harley Cameron vs. The Vendetta's Taya Valkyrie

Last week on COLLISION Harley Cameron inserted herself into the TBS Title Four-Way Eliminator when Taya Valkyrie and Deonna Purrazzo double-teamed Yuka Sakazaki following Queen Aminata and Serena Deeb brawling off to the back. Unfortunately the rules of the match allowed for such interference to occur, but so too did they allow for Harley to lend a hand so Yuka could secure the victory and TBS Championship match she had this past Wednesday night on DYNAMITE.

Tonight on COLLISION, The Vendetta aim to even the score with Harley when she goes one-on-one with Taya Valkyrie for the first time! The thing is, for Taya (and Deonna) this match is only about evening the score for last week, however for Harley Cameron it's about much more than that. Inspired by the words of Toni Storm, Harley is on a quest to earn her own way to GRAND SLAM: AUSTRALIA but when she challenged TBS Champion Mercedes Moné, suffice to say “The CEO” laughed off. It's not exactly a matter of Harley not being a talented competitor, it's that she is 1-22 in her matches on television, 3-23 overall, with two singles victories coming on AEW DARK in 2022 and one tag match from the 9/13/24 RAMPAGE. So for Harley a win tonight is as much about surviving The Vendetta as it is about proving she's worthy of a title fight on February 15th!

TAG TEAM CONTEST...

The Learning Tree (ROH World Champion Chris Jericho & Bryan Keith)

vs.

The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

The Outrunners have been enmeshed in Learning Tree drama for the past several weeks, particularly in that 12-Man tag from COLLISION: MAXIMUM CARNAGE two weeks ago. and tonight it comes full circle as Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd go into tag team battle with The Learning Tree!

Back in July The Outrunners attempted to score a huge upset when they took on Big Bill and Chris Jericho in tag team competition, however tonight it's ROH World Champion Chris Jericho and “Bad Apple” Bryan Keith!

Will “The Nueve” and “Bad Apple” even their score with “The Youngest Men Alive” or will Truth and Turbo run hot enough to burn down The Learning Tree?

TIMELESS! TIMELESS! TIMELESS!

We witnessed the resurrection of “Timeless” Toni Storm last Saturday at COLLISION: HOMECOMING 2025. This past Wednesday night we heard AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May respond to her reemergence just a few days ago during DYNAMITE, and tonight during COLLISION we will hear from the 3-Time AEW Women's World Champion herself ahead of her GRAND SLAM: AUSTRALIA rematch with “The Woman from Hell” Mariah May!
