AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...
“The Glamour” Mariah May vs. Anna Jay
Since returning from her tour of Stardom, Anna Jay has been on fire here in All Elite Wrestling, racking up six consecutive victories in singles competition, including (and most importantly) an Eliminator Match over AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May! That BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII marked the third one-on-one contest between the two competitors this year, but it was the first time Anna Jay left as the victorious party and it could not have been a more perfect situation for her. Not only did the victory earn Anna the AEW Women's World Championship bout she has tonight in Philadelphia, it also made her the first woman to defeat “The Glamour” one-on-one since her June 5th loss to Saraya on DYNAMITE. After that defeat, Mariah racked up 12 consecutive victories including her 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament run, her ALL IN: LONDON 2024 title victory over “Timeless” Toni Storm, and three successful title defenses over Nyla Rose, Willow Nightingale, and Yuka Sakazaki.
For Anna Jay it has been fifteen months since the last time she vied for the Women's World Championship, an 8/9/23 loss to Hikaru Shida, and in the months since she's has worked on every aspect of her game, a fact made clear by her three victories in Stardom's 5STAR GRAND PRIX 2024, and her departing win over Momo Kohgo. Anna is the best she's ever been at this very moment, with a great deal of momentum on her side thanks to that Eliminator victory over Mariah, meaning tonight in Philadelphia this could be the end of “The Era of The Glamour”!
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS MATCH...
“La Mera Mera” Thunder Rosa vs. Harley Cameron
Harley Cameron running off at the mouth is not a new thing by any means. Her propensity to constantly talk trash is well-known but whereas before she had the support of Saraya backing up her verbal onslaught, now she stands alone in the fight. However that hasn't stopped “Thunder Harley” from continuing to talk trash, but she may have bitten off way more than she can chew with aiming those words at “La Mera Mera” Thunder Rosa, especially during Dia de los Muertos!
That's why, tonight on COLLISION, Rosa returns to the AEW ring for the first time since August 31st to give “Thunder Harley” a little history lesson in the form of a Dia de los Muertos Match! What does this mean for the last Outcast standing? It's reasonable to assume it means pain, suffering, and violence for Harley, and we all know just how good at dishing that out the former AEW Women's World Champion is!
ONE-ON-ONE...
“The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher vs. Komander
After being confronted by his Aussie Open partner Mark Davis in regards to his assault on Will Ospreay, “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher made it quite clear that he would do the same to anyone who gets in the way of his goals, including Davis. There's no question that he means it, after all if he'd risk ending the career of Ospreay, a man Fletcher claimed to be as close as a brother, he's not going to hesitate to pull the trigger on anyone else.
That means Komander needs to be on high alert tonight on COLLISION when he faces “The Protostar” in their first true singles match. While this may be their first head-to-head encounter, it's certainly not the first time Kyle and Komander have fought. On the 200th edition of DYNAMITE on 8/2/23, Aussie Open successfully defended the ROH World Tag Titles against Komander and El Hijo del Vikingo and one month later on COLLISION Fletcher and Davis would top Komander and Nick Wayne in tag team competition. Both men were involved in the ALL OUT 2023 Over Budget Charity Battle Royale, but the last time they shared the ring was the most important to the career of Kyle Fletcher.
At Ring of Honor's FINAL BATTLE 2023 pay-per-view event, both Fletcher and Komander were involved in the Survival of the Fittest Elimination Six-Way with the vacant ROH World Television Championship at stake. After 16:52, only Fletcher and Komander were left standing to vie for the title but some nine minutes later it was Kyle who walked out of Garland, TX as the 31st ROH World TV Champion. As champion Kyle went on to make seven successful title defenses over the course of 196 days before losing to Atlantis Jr., but during that time Komander never got another chance to fight for the title.
Well the title may not be around Fletcher's waist anymore, but tonight is still a chance for Komander to even the score with Kyle for that loss last year, and put a damper on The Don Callis Family member's aspirations. Fletcher may have intentions of showing the world he's better than “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay, but the high-flying Komander could crash that notion into the dirt tonight!
Tonight All Elite Wrestling presents COLLISION live from the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia and what a night of action it will be! Coming off his victory over Lio Rush, Komander faces “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher one-on-one, Thunder Rosa makes her return to competition to face Harley Cameron in a Dia De Los Muertos bout, plus the AEW Women's World Championship is at stake when “The Glamour” Mariah May faces the woman who beat her in an Eliminator match: Anna Jay! The night starts at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TNT, so drop by the official AEW's YouTube channel to catch-up on highlights from FRIGHT NIGHT DYNAMITE, last night's edition of RAMPAGE, and so much more as all eyes turn to FULL GEAR 2024 where AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends his crown against “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy!
Then it's off to Manchester, NH next Wednesday for a DYNAMITE highlighted by Adam Cole facing House of Black's Malakai Black, as well as a Fight Without Honor trios match pitting The Conglomeration against The Learning Tree, Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin versus PAC & Claudio Castagnoli, and Jamie Hayter taking on Penelope Ford!
