FULL GEAR 2024 is just two weeks away, which means two weeks until AEW World Champion Jon Moxley fights Orange Cassidy, until Private Party defend their newly won AEW World Tag Titles against three other teams, and Kris Statlander challenges Mercedes Moné for the TBS Title! That means every moment counts, especially in this war pitting The Death Riders against the rest of All Elite Wrestling, and tonight will host the next battle between the two sides as the AEW World Trios Championship is at stake against The Conglomeration! Plus Statlander, after nearly being hit by Mercedes' car this past Wednesday night, will be in action, Nick Wayne looks for revenge against AR Fox, the FULL GEAR 2024 4-Way Contenders Series kicks off between Top Flight and The Outrunners, and plenty more on tap when COLLISION kicks off at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TNT! So before the night begins, be sure to visit AEW's official YouTube channel to watch all the highlights from DYNAMITE, last night's RAMPAGE, and so much more content available from All Elite Wrestling!
Next week, All Elite Wrestling is off to Bridgeport, CT and the Total Mortgage Arena for a DYNAMITE featuring the second FULL GEAR 2024 4-Way Contenders Series bout, this one between FTR and House of Black! Plus we will see Adam Cole fight AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita as Cole looks to score his third straight victory and earn that fight with MJF on November 23rd!
AEW WORLD TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...
Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, & Wheeler Yuta)(c) vs. The Conglomeration (Kyle O'Reilly, Mark Briscoe, & Tomohiro Ishii)
Violence begets violence, and that is all AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and his Death Riders have to offer All Elite Wrestling. Perhaps they truly believe deep down in their souls that what they've been doing the last several weeks, the heinous acts perpetrated on everyone from Brandon Cutler to Bryan Danielson are justifiable because somehow they'll force the members of the AEW locker room to evolve. The reality is that they just like violence, enjoy hurting people, and with that in mind perhaps there is no more appropriate team to step up and challenge for the AEW World Trios Champions than this Conglomeration configuration!
Mark Briscoe, Kyle O'Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii are undefeated as a trio, and come into this one fresh off a Fight Without Honor victory over The Learning Tree, but the defending champions are also undefeated as a unit, 6-0 with three title defenses to be exact. Still, The Conglomeration is fired up for the fight after what happened to their boy Orange Cassidy in the closing moments of DYNAMITE this past Wednesday, especially since the Death Riders chose flight over fight once the numbers became a little more even.
However tonight on COLLISION it's going to be 3-on-3, well perhaps 3-on-4 given Marina Shafir's willingness to get involved in a fight, but that's not going to stop Mark, Kyle, and Ishii from throwing every bomb they've got at Claudio, PAC, and Yuta! These are all men quite familiar with one another, especially Mark and Claudio who've been fighting each other since 2006, but it's not about the history tonight, it's about the future, specifically the future of All Elite Wrestling and who will lead the charge against Jon Moxley's Death Riders!
GRUDGE MATCH...
The Patriarchy's Nick Wayne vs. AR Fox
It feels like a lifetime ago since AR Fox, Swerve Strickland, and Prince Nana assaulted Nick Wayne inside his father's wrestling school to send a message to Darby Allin. A lot has changed since then; Swerve and Nana tossed AR Fox from the Mogul Embassy once he was no longer of use, Swerve won and lost the AEW World Championship, Nick Wayne stabbed Darby Allin in the back to align with Christian Cage and his Patriarchy, and that Patriarchy managed to exact some revenge on Swerve for that assault though it did not result in Christian Cage becoming AEW World Champion at DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2024. As for AR Fox, the road has been quite bumpy since Swerve excommunicated him from the Mogul Embassy. He's experienced some success competing in Ring of Honor, in fact he comes into this having won three consecutive ROH matches, including a victory over former ROH Pure Champion Josh Woods this past Thursday night on HONOR CLUB, but his AEW activity has been rough. He's went into battle with Jon Moxley for the AEW International Title last year, took on Los Ingobernables de Japon member and former IWGP Champion Shingo Takagi, Swerve, El Phantasmo, Jay White, and most recently Ricochet, but he's yet to find that space he was in last year before Swerve incident.
And now the sins of the past have come back to haunt him as Nick Wayne wants to settle that year-old score tonight on COLLISION! Fox knows he was in the wrong, he realized it in short order, but the matter was never resolved between he and young Mr. Wayne, certainly not to Nick's liking and just like his surrogate father Christian Cage taught him, Nick isn't one to let go of a grudge! Will “The Prodigy” settle this score tonight on COLLISION, and even if he does, will it make him the favored son once again after what “The Patriarch” said to Kip Sabian during DYNAMITE? Or will this be the night AR Fox gets himself onto the winning track, and finally moves on past the crimes he committed while under the auspices of The Mogul Embassy?
FULL GEAR 2024 4-WAY CONTENDERS SERIES...
Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)
Twice these two teams have met in official competition, once in AEW way back in December 2022 during DARK: ELEVATION #92 and once this past July during ROH's DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 2024: ZERO HOUR, and twice Top Flight has emerged victorious in their bouts. That being said, The Outrunners of Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd were not on the kind of roll four months ago that they are now, and certainly in December 2022 were nowhere near the team they are now. They've won three of their last four tag bouts (excluding the Tag Casino Gauntlet) including victories over Grizzled Young Veterans and MxM Collection, have bonded with FTR in the ring and in the gym, and have a groundswell of fan support that's pushed their merch into Top Seller status on ShopAEW.com.
Top Flight is also coming into this 4-Way Contenders Series bout having won three of their last four tag team contests (also excluding the Tag Casino Gauntlet), but all has not been copacetic in their camp when it comes to cohesiveness. Action Andretti seems heading in his own direction with that attitude, Lio Rush is off on his own trip with Komander over on RAMPAGE, leaving Dante, Darius, and Leila Grey standing together just a few short months after their group seemed refocused and renewed. Perhaps this kind of match is what the Martin brothers need to make sure they keep their eyes on the prize, they need a fight with stakes, one that could get them back in the ring with Private Party and get them their first World Tag Title shot since 3/22/23 against The Gunns.
We've got four young hungry competitors here (two of them apparently the youngest men alive), but only one team can move on to FULL GEAR 2024 and challenge for the championship in two weeks time!
SINGLES MATCH...
Undisputed Kingdom's Roderick Strong vs. LFI's The Beast Mortos
Roderick Strong and The Beast Mortos have got some history, not years worth of a relationship, but the last few months of 2024 have seen them unite on five different occasions. Once as a tag team, while the remaining four were in trios and multi-man contests, but more than that they seemed to have established a relationship beyond the action inside the squared circle. Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett were confused the night The Beast Mortos chose to team with Shane Taylor Promotions in a 3-Way Trios bout during ALL OUT 2024: ZERO HOUR, or with Premier Athletes, Brian Cage, Johnny TV, Lee Moriarty, anyone who wasn't them. So suffice to say they were quite apoplectic when Mortos made the choice a few weeks ago to join La Faccion Ingobernable alongside RUSH, Dralistico, and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. They've tried everything they could to sway him back to their camp, even using Halloween candy as seen above, but it looks like the only thing left to do is fight, and that's fallen on the shoulders of Roderick Strong as he continues his push for three consecutive victories.
Strong scored the first of those victories over Shane Taylor, leaving two victories away from getting hand on MJF at FULL GEAR 2024, and notched up with Adam Cole at one win apiece after his victory over Buddy Matthews. Then this past Wednesday night Cole scored win number two by pinning Malakai Black, but made the announcement after the fact that when, not if, both he and Roderick hit that third straight victory, they'll get Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a Triple Threat Match at the pay-per-view come November 23rd!
Now that we know Adam Cole has to fight AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita this coming Wednesday night in Bridgeport, the pressure on Roderick to bring home a victory to Undisputed Kingdom is certainly amplified, especially with that announcement of a potential Triple Threat to insure MJF gets the beating he deserves. Can Roddy put The Beast Mortos down like he has so many others, or will Mortos spear Strong right out of his boots?
TRIOS BOUTS...
The House of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews, & Malakai Black) vs. Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) and Jacked Jameson
Next week on DYNAMITE, FTR and House of Black will collide in the second match of the FULL GEAR 2024 4-Way Contenders Series where the winner of that battle will join the winners of Top Flight/The Outrunners and LFI/The Acclaimed in a 4-Way AEW World Tag Team Championship battle with Private Party on November 23rd. Unfortunately for FTR, at this point we don't know exactly which members of The House will represent on Wednesday, but what we do know is that tonight on COLLISION they will be out in full force competing in a trios bout against the unit of Iron Savages and Jacked Jameson! Two and a half years ago The House put down Boulder and Bronson, that night with Fuego Del Sol as their third, but the Iron Savages and Jacked Jameson are out to show the former World Trios Champions how far they've come since that March 2022 RAMPAGE match-up.
After what we saw from Malakai Black on Wednesday night with his loss to Adam Cole, it's anyone's guess what mindset that man will be in but the most likely option is one leading to pain and suffering for his opponents. Buddy Matthews and Brody King are certainly game to join their compatriot in those endeavors, and use Boulder, Bronson, and Jacked Jameson to send a message to FTR ahead of their very first on DYNAMITE!
TNT CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN CHALLENGE...
Jack Perry(c) vs. Action Andretti
TNT Champion Jack Perry is apparently a man alone on an island; The Young Bucks ran away from their duties, more accurately The Death Riders, after losing the AEW World Tag Titles to Private Party and yelling “we're working from home” as they left Brandon Cutler to Jon Moxley's tender mercies. The brothers Jackson were the only thread tying AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry together as members of The Elite, so without them around it looks like Okada is focused on the impending 2024 Continental Classic. So after doing everything he could to infuriate other members of the locker room, most notably Daniel Garcia as of late, “The Scapegoat” has to 100% stand on his own two feet for the first time in a long time.
That starts tonight with an Open Challenge on COLLISION as Jack Perry creeps towards breaking Darby Allin's record-setting first reign as TNT Champion. Perry currently stands at 132 days as champion, with six defenses to his name, putting him 54 days behind Darby's and three defenses shy of tying his record as well. Action Andretti, a man who's been on a mission to stand up to The Death Riders at whatever cost to himself, may bring an abrupt end to that potential as he has stepped up to answer the challenge. Andretti and Top Flight haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye as of late, but it seems to be because Andretti is willing to push himself into places they aren't in order to finally achieve the success he desires. He showed that hunger by stepping up to fight PAC, and now he's showing it again by stepping up to Jack Perry tonight!
If Jack makes it past this fight as champion, he's on pace to surpass Wardlow's 136-day reign, unless someone comes along on DYNAMITE to end his reign, and in nine days time he'll overtake Miro's 140-day run with the TNT Title to slide into second place. From there it's only Darby's 186-day record keeping Jack from, statistically, being the best TNT Champion of all-time; can Action Andretti bring that to an end tonight?
