AEW Collision Results for July 20, 2024

CONTAINS SPOILERS

Tonight’s episode of AEW COLLISION was broadcast live on TNT from the Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, TX!

It’s Saturday night and you know what that means! Saturday night’s alright for fighting!

Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

Kicking off tonight’s show…

Darby Allin vs. The Beast Mortos!

“It’s official! Darby Allin is part of Team AEW for the Blood & Guts match this Wednesday on Dynamite,” said Tony Schiavone.

The Beast Mortos swung Darby around the ring with a headlock. Darby escaped but the Beast rammed into Darby with a shoulder tackle. Darby blasted the Beast with a shotgun dropkick, followed up by a tope suicida!

“That’s some of the reckless abandon that Darby has been known for,” said Nigel.

Darby attempted a jumping hurracanrana off the apron, but the Beast Mortos caught him and flung Darby into the steel ring steps. The Beast Mortos slammed Darby with a Samoan Drop for a two-count.

The Beast Mortos charged at Darby, but Darby dodged him. Darby nailed the Beast with a Coffin Drop from the top rope to the Beast on the arena floor! The Beast Mortos cracked Darby with a headbutt and then wiped out Darby with a tornillo through the middle and top rope!

The sold out crowd chanted “A-E-W! A-E-W!”

The Beast speared Darby, folding Darby up like an accordion. Darby rallied back with a Code Red for a near fall. Darby climbed to the top turnbuckle, but the Beast Mortos met Darby up there. The Beast Mortos press slammed Darby off the top rope! Darby regained momentum by hitting an avalanche crucifix bomb and then a coffin drop and pinned the Beast Mortos!

Darby: “People always tell me to slow down because I won’t be able to walk when I’m 30. Well, I’m 30 and I feel wonderful! We’re getting ready for Blood & Guts, and it’ll be my first Blood & Guts match.

“I want to talk about the Young Bucks. They never come to Collision. AEW is my baby now. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the Young Bucks, but man, they suck really bad now.

“And TNT Champion Jack Perry? That TNT title means everything to me, and I won’t stop until it’s around my waist again. All In is around the corner, so Jack, if you’ve got the guts, let’s play!”

The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass were backstage!

Caster: “Yo, listen! The Elite, next Wednesday, we’re about to step on your tiny nuts.”

Daddy Ass: “Shut up! This match is about being the best and bringing it to the Elite! It’s time to nut up or shut up!”

Bowens: “Let’s do it!”

Skye Blue vs. Hikaru Shida!

Blue charged at Shida and booted Shida in the head. They traded forearm shots to the head. Shida got the upper hand and dropkicked Skye Blue. Shida connected with a crossbody press to the outside on Blue, knocking the wind out of Skye. Blue tweaked her ankle from the impact and collapsed. Shida was declared the winner due to referee stoppage.

“We’ll keep you updated,” said Nigel.

“Unfortunately, injuries do happen,” added Tony Schiavone.

“The MurderHawk Monster” Lance Archer was backstage, decimating several men with punches and kicks.

Archer said it was time to remind everyone who he was!

FTW Champion “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho had words for Minoru Suzuki ahead of their match on Dynamite this Wednesday!

Jericho: “Hi, guys! And hello Minoru Suzuki. We’ve been waiting a long time for this match. For four years I was wanting this match in the Tokyo Dome or on Dynamite. And now this dream match comes true this Wednesday. But for you, Suzuki, it’ll be a nightmare!

“They talk about Blood & Guts this Wednesday. This match will be far worse than that. If there’s anyone that can match you blow for blow, it’s the ‘Learning Tree’ Chris Jericho. I’ll teach you that you should never have turned down my offer, and you should have interrupted TV Time with Chris Jericho last Wednesday! Thanks, guys!”

The Lucha Bros’ Rey Fenix (with Alex Abrahantes)

vs.

Premier Athletes’ Tony Nese (with “Smart” Mark Sterling, Josh Woods, & Ariya Daivari)!

Nese hit a flurry of kicks to Rey Fenix. Nese worked on Rey Fenix’s knee. Rey Fenix got to his feet and went to take flight, but Nese slid out of the way. Woods and Daivari surrounded Rey Fenix, allowing Nese to ambush Rey Fenix. The Premier Athletes began to triple team Rey Fenix outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Nese power bombed Rey Fenix. Nese lowered his knee pad, looking for the running knee strike, but Rey Fenix countered with a hurracanrana. Rey Fenix followed up with a thrust kick off the ropes. Rey Fenix took flight, jumping over the top rope and diving onto all three Premier Athletes!

The fans chanted “Let’s go Fenix! Let’s go Fenix!”

Tony Nese connected with a 450 splash for a near fall on Rey Fenix! Fenix ran the ropes and punted Nese in the head. Rey Fenix rocked Nese with a top rope frog splash and pinned Tony Nese!

We heard from FTR—Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood!

Cash: “If you ask me, ‘Dynamite Kid’ Tommy Billington has a great future ahead of him and we’re not going to let the Don Callis Family walk all over him. But I want to talk about FTR. The last two years we’ve had the greatest run of our careers.

“But I want to get something off my chest. The last year I’ve been going through some things, and I’ve had a cloud over my head. And you fans helped me get past that. We wrestled every match like it was our last match. It’s not a secret that I have a temper, but it won’t happen outside of this ring. But we have our sights set on the Young Bucks. I think it’s time to go Buck hunting!”

Dax: “It’s been a good time to be an FTR fan these last few years. But now we live in the present. Our win-loss record hasn’t been that great. Back in April I had a serious back injury that I didn’t think I was going to come back from. And we watched the Young Bucks leap frog us and that didn’t sit well with us.

“I sat back and watched, hoping the Young Bucks would take the division back to the top and it didn’t happen. So maybe right now I’m making a big mistake. Starting next week, right here in Texas, FTR’s road to the AEW World Tag Team Championships begins and it ends. Next week we will be live in the ring starting our quest and it ends at AEW: All In! We will be your three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions! Young Bucks, this whole thing is for you! Top guys, out!”

Backstage, Lexi Nair interviewed Shida.

Shida: “I came to Collision to fight! I want a fight with Dr. Britt Baker! Welcome back! You want to be the champion? Get in line! I broke your nose before. This Wednesday on TBS at Blood & Guts, I will make you bleed again!”

Roddy grabbed Ishii and planted him hard on the ring apron! Ishii came back with a power slam. Ishii battered Strong in the corner. Ishii nailed Strong with a German release suplex. Ishii drilled with a stalling avalanche suplex from the middle rope for a near fall!

Ishii rammed Roddy with a headbutt. Roderick caught Ishii with an Olympic Slam and then a gut buster for a near fall! Ishii hit a left handed lariat. The ROH World Tag Team Champions Matt Taven and Mike Bennett ran down to distract the referee while Roddy stunned Ishii with a low blow. Roderick Strong followed up with a jumping knee strike and pinned Ishii!

After the match the Undisputed Kingdom triple teamed Ishii until ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe ran to the ring with Kyle O’Reilly! The Undisputed Kingdom retreated from the ring and headed backstage!

The Debut of Hologram!

Hologram vs. Gringo Loco!

Hologram hit a twisting hurracanrana! Hologram jumped over the top rope, wiped out Gringo Loco and then landed on his feet! Hologram dodged a top rope tornillo from Gringo Loco. Hologram, smooth as silk, jumped off the top rope and nailed Gringo Loco with a hurracanrana to the floor!

Hologram caught Gringo Loco with a heel kick. Hologram finished off Gringo Loco with the Portal Bomb—an airplane spin-torture rack combo into a power bomb for the pin!

Kevin Von Erich was backstage with his sons Ross and Marshall Von Erich, and Dustin Rhodes!

Kevin said wrestling has changed a bit over the years, and Dustin assured Ross and Marshall that he had their backs! The legacy and the history of professional wrestling reunited once more!

Undisputed World Trios Championship Match!

vs.

The Bang Bang Gang—Juice Robinson & The Gunns—Austin & Colten!

The winners of this match will be crowned new AEW World Trios Champions!
