Tonight’s AEW COLLISION was broadcast live from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, OH!
Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Saturday night and you know what that means! Saturday night’s alright for fighting!
AEW International Championship Match!
Jon Moxley (c.) vs. Action Andretti (with Darius Martin)!
“This title main evented a pay per view, that’s how important it is,” said Kevin Kelly.
Moxley blasted Andretti with a chop in the corner. Mox cracked Action with a forearm. Moxley extended his leg, booting Andretti in the face.
Action surprised Moxley with a tope suicida. Moxley hammered away with headbutts. Andretti clipped Mox with a dropkick. Action flipped over the ropes and crashed onto Moxley. The champ charged at Andretti, but Andretti dodged him, and Moxley’s own momentum forced him into the steel ring steps.
Moxley rallied back with a wild dive through the ropes to Action. Andretti fought back with a Falcon Arrow. Action propelled Mox back with a shotgun dropkick, but Moxley fired at Action with his own!
Action grabbed a near fall after a tornillo on the champ. Action grabbed Mox by the wrists and began to stomp on him. Moxley countered, putting Action in the bulldog choke and putting him to sleep! Mox won via submission!
TBS Championship Open Challenge Match!
Kris Statlander (c.) vs. Robyn Renegade!
Kris connected with a dropkick. Kris German Suplexed Robyn. Charlotte Renegade grabbed Kris’ ankle from outside the ring. The distraction allowed Robyn to hit Kris Statlander with a cheap shot.
Statlander rocked Robyn with a round kick. She followed up with a running elbow and then a charging boot in the corner. Statlander grabbed a near fall after a Blue Thunder Bomb. Statlander rolled up Robyn and pinned her.
After the match, the Renegade sisters attacked the TBS champion.
Jade Cargill returned!
Jade Cargill stormed to the ring and cleaned house on the Renegade sisters! Jade offered a hand to Kris. The champ accepted, but Cargill planted Statlander with Jaded! “Smart” Mark Sterling joined Jade in the ring and taunted Kris Statlander.
Tony Schiavone was backstage to interview ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli and New Japan Open Weight Champion Eddie Kingston!
The interview quickly broke down as the men exchanged words. Eddie challenged Claudio to a match at Grand Slam, with both belts on the line. Claudio said he’d accept under one condition: Eddie has to shake his hand if Eddie loses.
“Deal!” said Kingston.
Trios Match!
Bullet Club Gold’s Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, & Juice Robinson
vs.
Aerostar, Dios Del Inframundo, & Gravity!
Juice jabbed away at Dios Del Inframundo. Andrade El Idolo was watching the match on a monitor backstage.
Gravity and Aerostar double teamed Juice. The Gunns distracted the ref and Juice quickly regained control of the match, grounding and pounding Gravity. Aerostar made the tag and rocked Austin Gunn with a stunner.
Dios Del Inframundo tagged in, and the Gunns went after him. The Gunns dropped Gravity with their 3:10 to Yuma! Juice rocked Dios with a leg lariat and then finished him off, grabbing the pin for Bullet Club Gold!
Miro’s wife was backstage and said she was torn. She said Miro was too stubborn. “Oh Miro, you really want to go down this path? I respect that but I’m going to have to go down mine! I was once the coldest manager in all of wrestling. And I think I want to do it again,” she said.
Rey Fenix (with Alex Abrahantes) vs. Angelico (with Serpentico)!
Rey Fenix rocketed out of the ring at Angelico with a tope. Fenix jumped off the apron and kicked Angelico in the face. Angelico hit a back breaker on Rey Fenix. Angelico began to work over Rey Fenix’s arm.
Rey Fenix took Angelico down with a springboard arm drag. He followed up with a frog splash for a near fall on Angelico. Rey clocked Angelico with a thrust kick. Angelico ate another thrust kick.
Rey Fenix rocked Angelico with a cutter for a two-count. Rey Fenix spiked Angelico, dropping him right on his head and scoring the pin!
“Rey Fenix mows through the competition,” said Kevin Kelly.
Tony Schiavone was backstage with AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR!
Cash: “Who is the next team to step up to us?”
Dax: “To be the greatest tag team of all time, we need more contenders. That’s why I propose the FTR World Tag Team Challenge. Starting next week, step up and we’ll put the titles on the line.”
Grand Slam World Championship Eliminator Semi-Finals Match!
Roderick Strong (with The Kingdom) vs. Darby Allin!
Darby was making his entrance on a skateboard when TNT Champion Luchasaurus ambushed him, grabbing him off the board. Christian Cage told Darby he’d never be champion. Luchasaurus hurled Darby into the overhead garage doors!
Darby crawled down the ramp. Nick Wayne was there to support him and pump him up.
As Darby entered the ring, Roderick Strong charged at Darby and went to work on Darby’s back. Darby shot out of the ring with a tope, crashing into Strong! Darby nailed Roddy with the Code Red for a near fall. Roderick reversed things with an STF, but Darby managed to grab the ropes.
Roderick blistered the chest of Darby with stiff chops. Darby headbutted Roddy off the top rope. Roddy ran back and shoved Darby throat first into the top of the ring post. Roderick planted Darby on the top turnbuckle. Darby careened off the top turnbuckle and crashed onto the edge of the ring!
Somehow Darby mustered the energy to nail Roderick with a Coffin Drop! AR Fox came down to even up the odds as the Kingdom outnumbered Nick Wayne. Roderick rocked Darby with the Sick Kick. AR Fox inadvertently hit Nick Wayne. In the ring Roderick smashed Darby with the End of Heartache and pinned Darby!
Roderick Strong is advancing to the finals!
Nick Wayne shoved AR Fox, as Nick was checking on Darby.
Lexy Nair interviewed Keith Lee backstage!
Keith Lee said he had advice for the Colliders. “I am the Collision. Run!”
The Righteous said they were brand new, and if you don’t want to do anything about them, then get off their road!
Next: Tony Schiavone was in the ring to interview the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson!
Danielson: “What’s next? So, I told my daughter that once she turns seven, I would start finishing up on my career. And she’s six right now. And I’m a man who keeps my promises, especially to the people I love. Time is running out.
“But that said, I will not go gently into that good night. If you think I will, you don’t know who the hell I am. I am going to fight the cyclops. I am going to kick everybody’s head in! Because if this is my last year, if this is my final year, this will be the most epic year of my career.
“And guess what? I’m calling my shots. And my next shot is this. Seattle, Washington, Wrestledream, I want to fight Zack Sabre, Jr.”
“Absolute” Ricky Starks walked down the ramp with Big Bill!
Starks: “It’s pretty fitting that you are on Collision, and I had to sit in catering once again. The reason why I had to whip Steamboat’s ass is to get some attention. After Sunday I think I put everybody on notice. After Sunday, I immortalized myself as the face of Collision.
“I talked a lot about how I was given bread and breadcrumbs and I wanted a full course meal. I realized when you did not tap me out, I realized I have graduated from being hungry to being greedy. I am going to take, and take and take, because it’s in my nature and it’s in what I do!”
Danielson: “I wish you would have been a little more patient because I wasn’t done yet. I was in the ring with you on Sunday and I approve. And we say in the BCC if you want to be with us, you’ve gotta bleed with us. And Sunday…”
Big Bill jumped Danielson and began to ground and pound him! Starks pulled Big Bill away and began to hammer on Danielson himself! Moxley ran to the ring to help Danielson! Big Bill clobbered Moxley. Starks began to strangle Danielson with a BCC t-shirt!
Tony Schiavone was backstage to interview Big Bill!
It was announced that Big Bill will be facing Jon Moxley on Dynamite this Wednesday!
Big Bill: “I just went out and beat his ass. This Wednesday on Dynamite in his hometown I’m going to beat his ass again and become the International Champion.”
The Lucha Bros interrupted Big Bill. Rey Fenix said he wanted Moxley next!
Main Event Time!
Grand Slam World Championship Eliminator Semi-Finals Match!
ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe vs. Penta El Zero Miedo (with Alex Abrahantes)!
Jim Ross joined the broadcast booth for the main event.
Samoa Joe battered Penta El Zero Miedo with chops and headbutts.
Roderick Strong and the Kingdom were scouting the match backstage on a monitor.
Penta tried for a sliding dropkick, but Samoa Joe moved out of the way. Penta surprised Samoa Joe with a sling blade. Samoa Joe whipped Penta El Zero Miedo into the steel barricade. Both men exchanged chops on the outside of the ring. Samoa Joe thumbed Penta in the eyes.
Penta El Zero Miedo pulled a table out from beneath the ring. He and Alex Abrahantes propped the table up against the barricade. Back in the ring, Penta attempted a double foot stomp, but Samoa Joe moved out of the way. Samoa Joe followed up with a big back elbow.
Samoa Joe hit a hot shot on Penta on the top turnbuckle. Samoa Joe splashed Penta in the corner turnbuckles.
“This is Joe’s tournament to win. It’s not his tournament to lose. If he can beat Penta, that’s one hell of an accomplishment,” said Jim Ross.
The pace quickened with Penta cracking Samoa Joe with a backstabber. Penta connected with a thrust kick. Samoa Joe caught Penta with a powerslam for a near fall. Penta nailed Samoa Joe in the back with a kick. Penta was looking for an arm bar submission, but Samoa Joe escaped. Samoa Joe crushed Penta with a senton for a two-count.
Penta flipped over the top rope and landed on top of Samoa Joe. Penta went for a second dive, but Samoa Joe walked away, sending Penta crashing through the table that he propped up earlier. Samoa Joe applied his submission hold and made Penta El Zero Miedo tap out!
Samoa Joe advances to the finals in the tournament and will be facing Roderick Strong this Wednesday on Dynamite!
