AEW Dynamite Preview for March 5, 2025

It's REVOLUTION 2025 week and All Elite Wrestling is pulling out all the stops as we head towards Los Angeles and the Crypto.com Arena this Sunday! It begins tonight with DYNAMITE hailing from Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, CA! Tonight we will see “The Rated R Superstar” Cope try to take out AEW World Champion Jon Moxley's last line of defense before their championship fight on Sunday when he faces Wheeler Yuta one-on-one, plus Swerve Strickland and Ricochet will sign the contract for their #1 Contender's fight scheduled for REVOLUTION 2025! In addition, former Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa and former TBS Champion Kris Statlander will unite to square off with the duo of Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne!

It's the final DYNAMITE before REVOLUTION 2025 and it begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TBS, as well as streaming on MAX, and watchable around the world via AEW PLUS. Before the show gets underway, head over to AEW's official YouTube channel to watch all the highlights from previous editions of DYNAMITE and COLLISION, as well as the other content available from AEW! After tonight, catch COLLISION this Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT for the final evening of action before REVOLUTION 2025! Then, in the aftermath of our PPV presentation, All Elite Wrestling travels to the Save Mart Center in Fresno for the fallout REVOLUTION 2025!

FINISH THE JOB?

“The Rated R Superstar” Cope vs. AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta

-“The Bastard” PAC

-Claudio Castagnoli

-Marina Shafir

On his road to REVOLUTION 2025 and the AEW World Championship match with Jon Moxley, “The Rated R Superstar” Cope has either taken out Mox's soldiers himself, or in the case of Marina Shafir, watched as someone else with justifiable cause handled the work, in that instance Willow Nightingale. Now, with just four days left until that championship clash, Cope faces the last of the World Champion's army still standing, AEW World Trios Champion and 3-Time ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta! We all witnessed it during COLLISION on Saturday how Mox juiced up Yuta to assault Willie Mack with the infamous briefcase after his victory over the man. What was most telling about the entire situation wasn't so much that Yuta drilled Willie with the briefcase, but the look in Yuta's eyes after Moxley left and the Trios Champ moved that unkempt hair out of his face. Perhaps it was a look of concern, perhaps it was regret, perhaps it was fear of disappointing Moxley tonight when he steps into the ring with Cope. Those windows into Yuta's soul gave us all an indication that something was spinning through Wheeler's head on Saturday but whatever it was, if it wasn't something that lent itself to focusing on “The Rated R Superstar”, he better be able to set it aside before he steps into the ring tonight.

Cope will be focused, of that there is no question, focused on cutting Yuta in half with a spear and making sure he's not a factor come Sunday night's title fight. “The Rated R Superstar” wants to insure that it's only he and Moxley when the bell rings in Los Angeles at REVOLUTION 2025, and that means putting Wheeler Yuta down just like was done to the rest of The Death Riders. Will Moxley factor into this match tonight? Will he do anything he must to try to keep young Wheeler in play for Sunday night, or will he sacrifice the young man in order to gain an advantage over his challenger? Is Yuta in control of his own destiny in any way at this point, or is his fate in the hands of the two men who will vie for the AEW World Championship at REVOLUTION 2025?

TAG TEAM CONTEST...

“La Mera Mera” Thunder Rosa & Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne

From the moment she returned to All Elite Wrestling as part of the GRAND SLAM: AUSTRALIA Casino Gauntlet Match, Megan Bayne has exerted quite a presence in the Women's Division. From her engagements with Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, and Toni Storm in that #1 Contenders battle to her dismissive interaction with Thunder Rosa backstage a few weeks later to her dominating victories over Maya World and Hyena Hera, Megan Bayne has made a tremendous impact already. Perhaps the strongest impact has been on Kris Statlander who endured a loss to Bayne on the 2/19/25 DYNAMITE, though, as seen above, Penelope Ford had a direct hand in that coming to pass.

Thunder Rosa was there to quell the situation, and tonight she unites with Statlander in their first outing as a tag team to square-off with Ford and Bayne! Rosa and Stat are no stranger to one another. They've stood on the same side of the ring in All Elite Wrestling on three occasions and been victorious in each one, though it's been over a year since their last time fighting together. That gives them a slight edge over Penelope and Megan who've never competed together in any form, but considering just how dominant Bayne has looked in the two months since reemerging on the AEW stage, is there much of an advantage? Perhaps it lies in the dynamic between Ford and her opponents; Statlander has two singles victories over her just in the last two months while Thunder has one of her own from the February 8th edition of COLLISION, which says nothing of their respective histories from earlier AEW days not to mention their engagements prior to the launch of All Elite Wrestling. Suffice to say there's lots of history when it comes to Statlander, Rosa, and Ford, and most of the victories do not come from Penelope's side of the ring.

That being said, one of the victories she does hold over Statlander came in tag team competition with “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose as her partner, so perhaps this similar kind of stylistic alliance can prove just as beneficial to Penelope Ford as it did in June 2020. Megan Bayne has seemed virtually unstoppable thus far in 2025 in singles competition. Will that dominance continue in that tag team realm as well?

SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE...

Ever since he lost the title to “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson at ALL IN: LONDON 2024, Swerve Strickland has wanted nothing more than to get the AEW World Championship back around his waist. He went through hell in a Lights Out Steel Cage with Hangman Page at ALL OUT 2024 then was brutalized and battered by Bobby Lashley at FULL GEAR 2024. But the path to a title opportunity reopened when Swerve met “Switchblade” Jay White and Roderick Strong in a Three-Way match to determine the #1 entrant into the January 8th World Championship #1 Contenders Casino Gauntlet Match. The winner of said Gauntlet would earn a shot at Jon Moxley during DYNAMITE: MAXIMUM CARNAGE, and given the nature of AEW's gauntlet, being one of the first two entrants into the field gives a competitor a distinct advantage.

Unfortunately that hope was stolen from Swerve Strickland by Ricochet when he stabbed the former World Champion in the skull with a pair of scissors, leaving Jay White and Roddy Strong to battle it out for the #1 spot while Swerve would miss out on the Casino Gauntlet entirely as a result of the assault. There have been plenty of shots fired on both sides in the weeks since, most notably Ricochet stealing the Crown Jewel robe that Prince Nana holds so dear, but it's about to come to a head at REVOLUTION 2025 when Swerve and Ricochet meet in a World Championship #1 Contender Match.

All that's left to do is sign their names on the contract to make it official, and that's set to go down tonight during DYNAMITE! Contract signings have not been the kindest thing to Swerve during his AEW tenure; heading into their match at WRESTLEDREAM 2023 Hangman Page stabbed Swerve in the hand with a pencil as he signed the documents. Prior to DYNASTY 2024 Samoa Joe battered and bloodied Swerve before driving him through a table to cap off their contract signing, and when Swerve showed up on the September 4, 2024 DYNAMITE expecting to sign the contract for the aforementioned ALL OUT 2024 Steel Cage match with Hangman Page, he instead had to watch as his childhood home was burnt to the ground.

Will this contract signing go the way of all the others Swerve has experienced, or will he finally be the one who leaves it with the upper hand?

The final DYNAMITE before REVOLUTION 2025 kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT streaming on MAX, as well as on TBS, and around the world via AEW PLUS and TSN in Canada! “The Rated R” Superstar Cope takes on AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta as he tries to remove all potential obstacles to claiming the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley this Sunday! Plus, in a tag team grudge match, Thunder Rosa unites with Kris Statlander to face Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, and we will also see Ricochet and Swerve Strickland make their #1 Contender's match for this Sunday official! Prior to tonight's action, be sure to check out the official AEW YouTube channel to catch up on highlights from last week's DYNAMITE and COLLISION, as well as the plethora of other content available! Then join us Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TNT for COLLISION, the last stop before AEW invades L.A. and the Crypto.com Arena for REVOLUTION 2025! After that, AEW heads to Fresno and the Save Mart Center for the aftermath of that pay-per-view extravaganza!
