AEW Dynamite Preview for September 11, 2024

Coming off a wild, unhinged night in Chicago for ALL OUT 2024, All Elite Wrestling heads to Lexington, KY and the fabulous Rupp Arena for an all-new edition of DYNAMITE! Why did Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and PAC so viciously assault Bryan Danielson, and what is The American Dragon's condition after that? What is Wheeler Yuta's future as 1/3 of the AEW World Trios Champions after what he witnessed? What shape is Swerve Strickland in after his Lights Out Cage loss to Hangman Page?

There are so many questions to be answered after everything we witnessed last Saturday at NOW Arena, and as we now look towards GRAND SLAM 2024 where Darby Allin will challenge the AEW World Champion, and WRESTLEDREAM 2024 in Tacoma on October 12th, it looks like there will be quite a few scores to settle along the way! Not only will we hear from Jon Moxley himself, we will find out what team will challenge The Young Bucks at GRAND SLAM 2024 for the AEW World Tag Titles as AEW presents the first-ever Tag Team Casino Gauntlet! Plus, AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May will face Queen Aminata in an Eliminator match, TNT Champion Jack Perry puts his title on the line against Lio Rush, and Ricochet faces one-half of the ROH World Tag Champions Sammy Guevara!

DYNAMITE begins at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TBS, or check here for your viewing options outside the United States. Whereever you may be, be sure to visit the official AEW YouTube channel to watch highlights from ALL OUT 2024, DYNAMITE, COLLISION, and RAMPAGE, as well as the ALL OUT 2024 MEDIA SCRUM, to get prepared for tonight's event! Then join All Elite Wrestling Thursday night at the Nutter Center in Dayton, OH for a special COLLISION taping, then it's off to Wilkes-Barre, PA for next Wednesday's live episode of AEW's flagship program!

JON MOXLEY LIVE...

To say that Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and “The Bastard” PAC shocked the world at ALL OUT 2024 would be a gross understatement. That shock had nothing to do with the matches in which Castagnoli or PAC were involved, and everything to do with the aftermath of Bryan Danielson AEW World Championship victory over TNT Champion Jack Perry. The tweet embedded above encapsulates how All Elite Wrestling feels about the reprehensible actions perpetrated upon Danielson by Jon Moxley, suffice to say that while the video footage is not going to be shared here, the former multi-time AEW World Champion is going to have an opportunity tonight on DYNAMITE to rationalize his actions.

Will Moxley share what was going through his head on Saturday when he so nonchalantly assaulted a man who'd been his training partner for over two years? Will we hear at all from Claudio and PAC regarding their part in this? What about Wheeler Yuta, who so clearly was not included in these schemes, and appeared emotionally decimated by what he helplessly watched be perpetrated upon “The American Dragon”?

There are so many questions swirling around what we witnessed inside the NOW Arena on Saturday, but will any answer adequately justify Jon's actions?

ELIMINATOR MATCH...

AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May vs. Queen Aminata

During the ALL OUT 2024: ZERO HOUR, Skye Blue came onto the AEW stage to address her injury status in front of her hometown crowd, inside the very arena where she earned her way into the Casino Battle Royale three years prior at ALL OUT 2021. Instead she was interrupted by AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May, kicked in her injured leg, and on the verge of being assaulted with her own crutches were it not for the intervention of Queen Aminata.

Though they've had their share of matches against one another, the first pre-dating either woman's involvement in All Elite Wrestling, the two share a bond of friendship away from the ring that's far stronger than who leads in their win column. That's part of what brought Aminata to Skye's aid on Saturday night, another part has to be the fact that Mariah May made her AEW in-ring debut back in January with a victory over Queen Aminata in Newark.

So much has changed since then, most notably Mariah's evolution from a seeming Toni Storm sycophant to a scheming starlet-in-hiding with designs on the AEW Women's World Title. Obviously May's machinations paid off as it is she who now stands here as the champion rather than “The Timeless One”, but that status as champ also makes her a target for hopeful challengers and those looking for redemption, and Queen Aminata qualifies as both!

Can the Queen succeed in earning an AEW Women's World Title match here where she failed to secure a TBS Championship bout just over a week ago on COLLISION? Can she get a measure of revenge on behalf of Skye Blue while also scoring a championship bout? Tune into DYNAMITE tonight beginning at 8pm ET to see if “The Glamour” reigns supreme?

TAG TEAM CASINO GAUNTLET...

Tonight in Lexington, KY fans will witness the first-ever Tag Team Casino Gauntlet match, and to the winner go the spoils of a championship match at GRAND SLAM 2024 against The Young Bucks! We have witnessed three Casino Gauntlet bouts this year, two for World Title opportunities and one for the International Championship, Will Ospreay won one of each, while Christian Cage got the victory in the second World Championship one. The style of match became an instant hit with the fans, in large part due to its wild unpredictability, the fact that it can end at any time even before all possible competitors have entered, and that even the intervals between competitors is completely random.

It's already quite a difficult fight to prepare for for the competitors involved, now raise the stakes as we've got tag teams involved rather than individuals, meaning two men entering at the same time, making for twice the danger of the contest ending at any moment. It means keeping an eye on twice the number of people to make sure the bout doesn't slip away you're occupied elsewhere, and to keep your hopes alive of challenging The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Arthur Ashe Stadium!

Fans have already started naming the teams in AEW they want to see involved, as well as mentioning teams from around the wrestling world they'd love to see come participate in the Casino Gauntlet, and many teams within All Elite Wrestling have already thrown their names in the hat as wanting in the mix. All of that is what makes this Casino Gauntlet the most exciting new addition the matches presented in AEW, and with this first-ever tag team one, who knows what sort of anarchy will unfold!

TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...

“The Scapegoat” Jack Perry(c) vs. Lio Rush

It's been just four days since Jack Perry challenged “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship and got his head kicked in. It wasn't as simple as that, Perry pushed the defending champion far harder than anyone thought possible, but even the interference of The Young Bucks wasn't enough to stop the Era of the Dragon from rolling on and thus prevented The Elite from taking control of professional wrestling's most coveted prize. No rest for the wicked though, and the TNT Champion has to put his title on the line tonight during DYNAMITE against a man he's never faced one-on-one, the incomparable Lio Rush! These two last met in the TNT Championship Ladder Match at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 where “The Scapegoat” claimed the title, but that match featured four other people attempting to climb those rungs and pull down the ladder. This time there's only Lio and Jack, and neither is walking away the champion just by being able to climb. The man who wants to walk out of Lexington as TNT Champion is going to have to fight for it, and in Lio's case he has to make sure it's a pinfall or submission victory to insure he wins that title. He can't let it end by disqualification or a count out if he wants to become the 25th TNT Champion!

ONE-ON-ONE...

ROH World Tag Champion Sammy Guevara vs. Ricochet

We all heard AEW International Champion Will Ospreay tell Ricochet to get to work if he wanted to be a contender for Ospreay's title, and it looks like Ricochet took that to heart in a big way because tonight on DYNAMITE he's back in action against current ROH World Tag Champion, and 3-Time TNT Champion, Sammy Guevara! After six months away, Sammy made his return to AEW competition one month ago, teaming with Dustin Rhodes, and defeated Undisputed Kingdom to claim the ROH World Tag Titles. Since then he's been in action on the ZERO HOUR of both ALL IN: LONDON 2024 and ALL OUT 2024, and though those matches have been multi-man affairs, Sammy has looked better than ever. However, tonight Guevara steps back into singles competition for the first time since February so will he maintain the success he's experienced thus far? Or will it be Ricochet's night to show the world, and Ospreay in particular, why he ranks among the premier high-flyers in professional wrestling and why the prospect of him in All Elite Wrestling had fans salivating long before he arrived at Wembley Stadium three weeks ago?

DYNAMITE begins at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TBS, as well as around the world with these viewing options, and you can get ready for it all with a trip to AEW's official YouTube channel! There fans can catch up on all the action with highlights from ALL OUT 2024, DYNAMITE, COLLISION, and RAMPAGE ahead of tonight's event! Then join AEW at the Nutter Center in Dayton on Thursday night for a special COLLISION taping. After that, we head to Wilkes-Barre, PA for next Wednesday's live episode of AEW's flagship program!
