AEW TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH...
Mr. Brodie Lee (c) vs. “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes
Pay-per-view has proven a frustrating venue for Mr. Brodie Lee; two appearances with two losses to his record, one in the World Title match with Moxley, and now this eight man tag in which Colt Cabana took the deciding pinfall. Lee may not have been the one beaten, but it is still a blemish on his record, and he is now the one suffering the consequences with this championship bout.
Wednesday night, it will be Dustin Rhodes who reaps the rewards for that PPV victory when he challenges for a singles title for the first time in All Elite Wrestling, the very title first held by his brother Cody prior to the younger Rhodes fighting Lee.
So DYNAMITE not only marks an opportunity for sibling vengeance for Dustin, aiming to reclaim the TNT Championship for The Nightmare Family, but also a chance for “The Natural” to hold a singles title for the first time in over a decade. With those two factors, the victory over Lee would be doubly sweet, and giving Dustin every bit of motivation he could need to knock the figurehead of The Dark Order off his pedestal.
Certainly would make for an interesting situation when Cody finally returns to reclaim the TNT Title if his brother was the one holding the championship...
NO DISQUALIFICATION...
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho & Jake Hager) vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss
Last week on DYNAMITE, on the eve of his Mimosa Mayhem Match at ALL OUT 2020, Chris Jericho defeated Joey Janela in singles competition, but a mere victory was not good enough for the former AEW World Champion. No, Jericho insisted on adding insult to the injury, bloodied up Joey, and smeared a crimson streak across the Orange Cassidy shirt he wore for the match.
This week, after scoring a victory on THE BUY-IN and watching Jericho take a dive in the Mimosa later in the night, Joey Janela is looking for a measure of revenge! The opportunity comes in the form of a No DQ Tag Team match pitting Joey and his partner Sonny Kiss against The Inner Circle pairing of Jericho and Jake Hager. Surprisingly this is only the second time Jericho and Hager have teamed up for a traditional tag match, but they did mark that outing as a win over Jurassic Express.
For Sonny and Joey, in tag team action they rock a 7-2 record, and no doubt have aspirations of building that synergy towards a World Tag Team Title match sometime in the future, and a win over these two Inner Circle members would go a long way towards boosting their tag team resume.
And with the No Disqualification stipulation placed on this contest, these four competitors are playing in a wheelhouse that Janela has been known to wholeheartedly embrace. Just go check out his match with Jon Moxley from last year's FYTER FEST, or the bout with Kenny Omega from AEW DARK last October, to see what Joey is capable of when the rules are stripped away. It's not a situation we've seen Sonny Kiss compete in here in AEW, but Kiss is always willing to fight, and there will certainly be one coming his way after being responsible for Jake Hager's elimination in the Casino Battle Royale Saturday night.
All four fighters here have a reason to want to duke it out, and the violence will certainly be unleashed when there are no worries about repercussions!
TAG TEAM ACTION...
The Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix w/ Eddie Kingston) vs. Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus w/ Marko Stunt)
On Saturday night at ALL OUT 2020, the Jurassic Express duo of Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus put up a tremendous fight against The Young Bucks, but were ultimately topped in tag team action.
Their opponents for this Wednesday night both entered into the Casino Battle Royale in hopes of securing a future World Title opportunity, but neither Rey Fenix or Penta El Zero M were able to go the distance to clinch that shot.
On DYNAMITE, these four men will now collide in tag team action for the very first time! See almost a year ago, in the the opening round of the World Tag Team Title tournament, The Lucha Brothers bested JurEx in Philadelphia, but it was the team of Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt rather than Luchasaurus who was coping with an injury. Penta and Fenix would eventually make it to the finals of the tournament, falling to SCU in their bid to become the first tag team champions, and this match that was the originally scheduled TV debut for Jurassic Express never happened.
The closest it came to happening was on SATURDAY DYNAMITE several weeks ago when JurEx united with Natural Nightmares to take on the Luchas, The Butcher, and The Blade in an eight man tag, and would come up victorious when Jungle Boy pinned The Blade. Tensions ran high between those four men following the loss until Eddie Kingston arrived on the scene to quell the situation and bring them back on the same page.
So will it be Jurassic Express who rebounds from the pay-per-view loss, or the refocused Lucha Bros, with Kingston in their corner, who step up for the win?
WOMEN’S MATCH…
(#2) “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose (w/ Vicki Guerrero) vs. Tay Conti
Earlier today it was announced that Tay Conti had officially signed with All Elite Wrestling, and what a welcome she is getting by squaring off with “The Native Beast” on DYNAMITE! Rose has been focused on getting the Women’s World Title back in her possession, even bringing on Vicki Guerrero as her manager to accomplish her goals, and every single win she picks up brings that closer to reality.
As for Conti, a win over the former champion would be a tremendous way to make an impact in her first match as a signed member of the roster. It will be an uphill battle, but Conti has all the talent in the world to make it possible. And let’s not forget, as evidenced by Anna Jay’s response to the announcement, The Dark Order has its eye on Tay for recruitment. The fold continues to grow, the allure of a championship within the ranks certainly provides extra incentive to sign on, but where is Conti on it all?
HEAD TO HEAD…
“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. Angelico
Coming off the biggest victory of his professional wrestling career at ALL OUT 2020, Orange Cassidy is back in action on DYNAMITE! His foe for the evening is usually a tag team specialist, but who impressed on AEW DARK this week as a singles competitor, Angelico!
It’s certainly the highest profile singles match of Angelico’s AEW career, and knocking Orange down a peg after he bested Chris Jericho would be a huge boost to one-half of Hybrid2. It’s the change for Angelico to show what he’s got, and for Orange to continue the momentum from his ALL OUT victory.
Tune into DYNAMITE to see which man gets their hand raised in victory!!
MATT HARDY...
What will Hardy have to say after Saturday night and the fight with Sammy Guevara?
THE BEST MAN REVEAL...
Let the speculation begin as Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford have promised to unveil THE best man for their upcoming nuptials, a ceremony mind you that they have also promised will take place live on DYNAMITE soon. Will they pull someone from the AEW roster to be THE best man, or will it be a person from outside the locker room who takes on this all-important role? We will all find out on Wednesday night!
In addition to the above, the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will be in the house, as will the Casino Battle Royale winner “The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer! These two are definitely on a collision course, the question is not IF it will happen, but WHEN the fight will go down, who will survive it, and what will be left of him.
DYNAMITE hits the airwaves at 8pm EST/7pm CST LIVE on TNT and on AEWPlus.com! Don't miss out on all the action as we begin the march towards our next pay-per-view extravaganza FULL GEAR 2020 on November 7th!
