We are on the road to AEW ALL OUT 2024! AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast live on TBS from the State Farm Center in Champaign, IL!
Excalibur, “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz, and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
Jon Moxley made his return, slowly walking through the crowd to the ring!
Tony Schiavone got into the ring to interview Mox!
“This is not how we were scheduled to begin our evening. There is something different, something reserved about Moxley,” said Excalibur.
Moxley: “I haven’t been doing a lot of talking lately. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about some things that need to get done. I came here tonight looking for a man who’s not here. To have a conversation. This man is nothing like me but he’s everything like me. So this conversation is long overdue and I’m here to let him know. Darby Allin, it’s about time we had a talk. Trust me, I’m not hard to find.
“It’s going to take some time for everybody to wrap their brains around this. This is not your company anymore.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” asked Taz.
Renee Paquette interviewed the Conglomeration backstage!
Willow Nightingale picked her stipulation and said she wanted a Chicago Street Fight against Kris Statlander!
“The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii vs. “Hangman” Adam Page!
Hangman and Ishii charged to the center of the ring and traded elbows, neither man backing down. Hangman got the better of Ishii but then Ishii blasted Page with a shoulder block, knocking Hangman off his feet. Page got up and they traded chops, blistering one another.
Page dropped Ishii with a lariat on the apron. Page drilled Ishii with a DDT on the apron!
“Exclamation point city right there,” said Taz.
Hangman jumped off the top rope with a leaping lariat for a near fall on the Stone Pitbull. Page followed up with a back breaker. Page had Ishii in an inverted Indian death lock, but Ishii crawled to the ropes to cause the ref to break the hold.
Ishii jumped up and headbutted Page, who had been perched on the turnbuckles. Ishii superplexed Page but Page kicked out at the two-count. Ishii went for the sliding elbow strike, but Hangman avoided it and connected with a Death Valley Driver!
Page and Ishii battered one another with elbow strikes and both men collapsed. Page went for the Dead Eye, but Ishii escaped. Ishii tossed Hangman with a German Suplex, but Page landed on his feet! Page nailed Ishii with a German Suplex!
Ishii smacked Page with a massive lariat for a near fall. Ishii cracked Page with a headbutt, but Hangman answered with a discus lariat! Hangman spiked Ishii with the Dead Eye! Page scored with the Buckshot Lariat and pinned Ishii!
“What a firefight! What a match!” said Excalibur.
“These two guys beat the daylights out of each other. That was wild,” replied Taz.
Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana came to the ring! Swerve went eye to eye with Page!
Swerve: “You got involved in my championship match at All In this past Sunday and I came to look you in your face to tell you I feel sorry for you. You’re the one that’s become a petulant little child. And with every tirade and tantrum that you throw, you get further from success, and I get closer to it.
“Make no mistake, I may not have a championship belt around my waist right now, but I will always be referred to as a world champion. And this will always be my house. And you failed.”
Page: “You’re not a champion of anything. You are a piece of crap! You broke into my home! You wrestled me three times and you could never ever beat me on your own! The first time it took Prince Nana. The second time it took Prince Nana and Brian Cage. The third time you had thirty minutes, and you couldn’t do it! You’re not as good as me!
“I want to leave them out of it. I want just you and me. Like this began. And I want you on your knees!”
Swerve: “How about we lock them out and we lock us in? All Out. Steel cage match! What kind of man are you going to be in that cage. Let’s go back to Revolution. You, me and Samoa Joe. You gave up in the middle of the ring not because you were beaten but because you didn’t want me to win. That pissed me off.
“I drove ten minutes up the road that morning and I went to your home because it’s a place I know very well. And I parked out in front and that morning I saw you escorting your pregnant wife down the stairs and to the car. You were driving her to the hospital so she could have her baby. And that’s the kind of man you were meant to be. You were meant to be a father.
“I was meant to be the AEW World Champion. And mark my words, it will happen again. But you, you’re so focused on me you can’t win the Owen, you can’t win the Casino Gauntlet, and you let your team down at Blood & Guts because all you can do is focus on me. Instead of burning my career to the ground, yours is the one going up in flames. So again, in that cage, what kind of man are you going to be? Better yet, what kind of man are you going to show your kids that you’re going to be?”
“Hangman” Adam Page walked out of the ring without saying anything.
The In-Ring Return of Jamie Hayter!
Jamie Hayter vs. The Outcasts’ Harley Cameron (with Saraya)!
Harley blindsided Jamie. Jamie stomped a mudhole in Harley. Harley hit a jawbreaker. Hayter wiped out Harley with a pump kick.
Hayter nailed Harley with three consecutive Hate-Breakers! Hayter dropped Harley with the Hayter Ade and pinned Harley Cameron, making short work of Harley.
Saraya wanted no part of Jamie Hayter and left through the crowd.
MJF walked to the ring in a suit and in pain!
MJF: “I am in a tremendous amount of pain right now. I have a splitting headache so I am going to politely warn you all, if you do not pipe down, so help me God I will hop this guardrail and beat up every one of you.
“After the events that transpired at Wembley I have lost my ring, I have lost my championship and I now have two herniated discs in my spine, and yet where were all of you when I was defending this country and this company, none of you had my back.
“I hereby denounce my American citizenship. The only part of this country that matters is the most magical place in the world known as Plainview, Long Island, New York. I also denounce all of you so-called fans who show me no respect after everything I have done for you and this company. We all know that this company without MJF is a circus.
“And speaking of circus acts, Will Ospreay, I’m speaking to you and you alone. The whole world knows I had you beat. So what did you do? You cheated like a gutless little worm. This ain’t over boy, not by a long shot. Billy boy, you best keep your head on a swivel. I have no doubt that one day you are going to come this close to winning the greatest prize in this sport, and just before you etch your name in the history books, I am going to cut you out at the knees with a smile on my face.
“And now I’m going to talk about Daniel Garcia, you bum! If you show your face in my company again, I am going to—”
Daniel Garcia stormed in and battered MJF with right hands. Garcia locked in the guillotine and choke out MJF! Garcia picked up MJF for a piledriver, looked at the turnbuckles, and then stopped.
Garcia hoisted MJF up onto the turnbuckles and went for a piledriver, but security jumped into the ring. Garcia manhandled the security until MJF blindsided Garcia! But Garcia was determined, rallied back, and went back for the top rope piledriver on MJF. Christopher Daniels and more AEW security jumped into the ring, prying Garcia away from MJF!
Garcia: “Maxwell, you thought it was going to be that easy? I know you’re looking for that Dynamite diamond ring of yours, but I pawned it off in Buffalo, NY for a plane ticket to All In to ruin your night. You know what’s bad? Having your mother watch you get stretchered out, like you did to me. Max, ruining your life is my fetish. I talked to Tony Khan. And right down the road it’ll be MJF against Daniel Garcia at All Out!
“And Max listen to me. Beating you in a match is not enough for me. I won’t feel fulfilled until I pick you up and drop you on your neck!”
MJF screamed “You got it!” as security held MJF back!
All-Star Eight-Man Tag Match!
FTW Champion HOOK & The Conglomeration—ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, & “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy
vs.
Roderick Strong, “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho, “The Redwood” Big Bill,
& “Bad Apple” Bryan Keith!
Hook suplexed Bryan Keith. Cassidy grabbed a tag and sent Bryan Keith into the turnbuckles. Kyle tagged in and took Keith off his feet with a leg kick. Briscoe suplexed Bryan Keith and then kicked him in the spine.
Big Bill entered the match. Briscoe was looking for redneck kung fu, but Big Bill countered it with massive overhead chops! There was a four-way standoff until both teams began to brawl, the match breaking down into a hockey fight!
Roddy rocked Briscoe with a back breaker. Bryan Keith grounded and pounded Briscoe. Bryan Keith showed off his striking prowess, connecting with wicked kicks to Briscoe. Kyle grabbed a blind tag and booted Bryan Keith, then swept out Keith’s legs. Big Bill entered after a blind tag and dropped a massive elbow on Kyle. Big Bill flattened Orange Cassidy with a spinning side slam!
Hook entered the fray and cleaned house on the opposition. Strong booted Hook in the back. Hook t-boned Big Bill. Roddy grabbed Hook but Hook countered with a Northern Lights Suplex. Mark Briscoe was taken off his feet with a lariat by Jericho. Hook popped Jericho in the face with a right hand and followed up with a T-Bone. Roddy smashed Hook with a lung blower. Orange rocketed out of the ring with a tope to Bryan Keith. Mark Briscoe launched himself off the chair and flipped onto Big Bill outside the ring!
Roddy tried for End of Heartache on Hook, but Hook vaulted over. Hook locked Roddy in the RedRum and Roddy tapped out. His foot was under the rope, but the ref never saw it. Mike Bennett and Matt Taven attacked Hook after the match! Roddy grabbed the FTW belt and Bennett and Taven held Roddy on their shoulders as they taunted Hook!
TBS Champion & NJPW STRONG Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Moné was backstage having a party to celebrate her victory against Dr. Britt Baker at AEW All In: London this past Sunday!
Private Party interrupted and said she can’t have a party without them! Brother Zay said he was single, and he knows Mercedes is single...Kamille stepped in to push Zay away. Okada walked in and Mercedes asked Okada how to say, “Bye bitches.” Okada told her, she repeated it, and Private Party left as Mercedes and Okada danced. Okada smiled and said, “Dream come true!”
Next it was time for the Championship Celebration for AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May!
Tony Schiavone introduced her, bringing her out onto the ramp.
Mariah May: “I am the new AEW Women’s World Champion.”
Tony: “Yes, you are.”
Mariah: “But I regret to inform you that the championship celebration has been postponed. I’m not doing it in this town. What you desperately need is some glamour. And luckily for you, that’s everything I am. In case you don’t understand, I’m going to take my robe off now and show you exactly what I mean. Look now and never forget this is your new AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May!”
Footage played of The Grizzled Young Veterans backstage at Wembley when they were approached by AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks—EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson.
The GYV said they were coming for the titles and anyone in their way should grit their teeth!
The Grizzled Young Veterans will be facing one unlucky team this Friday on Rampage!
The Dynamite Debut of Ricochet!
Don Callis Family’s “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher
vs.
Ricochet!
Don Callis joined the broadcast booth for this match.
The fans chanted for Ricochet.
Fletcher hit a shoulder block on Ricochet. Ricochet hit a beautiful dropkick on Fletcher. Fletcher flew out of the ring with a tope suicida on Ricochet. Fletcher smashed Ricochet with a running boot, knocking Ricochet over the barricade. Ricochet fired back with a meteora from the barricade!
Ricochet cracked Kyle with forearms and then headbutted Fletcher, knocking him to the mat. Ricochet followed up with a springboard clothesline. Ricochet hit a springboard back elbow on Fletcher. Ricochet connected with a running shooting star press for a near fall.
Ricochet chopped Fletcher but Fletcher rallied back with a running clothesline. Ricochet flew out of the ring, knocking Fletcher into the barricade with a flying shoulder block. Fletcher blocked a diving splash with both boots. Fletcher rocked Ricochet with a brain buster for a near fall!
Fletcher was stopped in his tracks by a pump kick. Ricochet drilled Fletcher with a Death Valley Driver. Ricochet nailed Fletcher with Vertigo and picked up the pinfall victory!
“Congratulations on the Dynamite debut to Ricochet. A hell of a fight,” said Taz.
AEW International Champion “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay walked onto the ramp!
Ospreay was about to say something in the microphone to Ricochet when “The Bastard” PAC snuck up with a reverse hurracanrana to Ospreay!
PAC: “Willy, don’t forget about the bastard. And Ricochet, get to the back of the line with the rest of them. Ospreay belongs to me!”
A cameraman approached Moxley backstage, looking for answers!
Moxley: “You know what we could really use around here? A lesson in humility!”
Moxley took down some AEW security with the help of…Marina Shafir!
AEW World Champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson came to the ring and addressed his future!
Danielson: “You know, after trying and failing and trying and failing and trying and failing and trying and failing, finally Bryan Danielson, the “American Dragon,” is the AEW World Champion! When I got to the back, my daughter said, ‘Daddy, this was the best day of my life.’
The fans chanted “Thank you Bryan! Thank you Bryan!”
Danielson: “But then when I got to the press conference at the end of the show, they asked ‘What’s next?’ My contract with AEW expired on August 1st, I’m going to be needing neck surgery sooner rather than later, and my family is ready for me to come home.
“So I’ve had a lot of thinking to do since Sunday and when I first got to AEW one of the first things I said was ‘Thank you’ to the people who started this place. If you’re in the building tonight, you probably agree with me that AEW is awesome! I have loved pro wrestling my entire life and the fact that AEW exists makes pro wrestling better and has made my life better!
“When I think of all my peers who wrestle for AEW and think of all of the people who will wrestle for AEW in the future, I realized it’s probably time for me to go home, but not yet! I am not going to retire as AEW Champion. I am going to fight as much as I can possibly can. Don’t get it twisted. When I lose this, my full time career will come to an end but that’s not going to happen any time soon!
“So in two weeks in Chicago, we’ve got a young, hungry locker room back there, so who wants it?! First come, first serve!”
TNT Champion “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry appeared from backstage on the big screen above the ramp!
Jack Perry: “Bryan Danielson addresses his future. You don’t know your future, but I know mine. Let me connect the dots for you. Nobody wanted me back here. Nobody believe in me. You could have. But you didn’t. I created my own path. My future is to retire the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. My future and the future of AEW are one and the same. Your future is behind you!”
Jack Perry blindsided Bryan Danielson in the ring! Jack Perry blasted Bryan with a running knee strike! Jack Perry held up both championships, taunting Danielson, calling his shot for All Out in two weeks!
“Wow, what did we just witness?” asked a shocked Excalibur.
