AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast on TBS and streamed on MAX live from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA!
Excalibur, “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz, and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
To kick things off we heard from new AEW International Champion Kenny Omega!
Omega: “This is all still so wild to me. Before 2025 I was more than happy just to stand in this ring and say, ‘Guys, I’m cleared. I can try doing this again.’ But what’s even more unbelievable is we’re barely in the new year and thanks to the support of you fans, the doctors, Will Ospreay, not only am I back, but I’m back with something I never thought I’d be able to hold ever again. That’s not just a title, but a singles title.
“And though I’ve listed a whole slew of people I need to thank for me being here, though it may sound controversial, I’m going to thank you, Takeshita. You pushed me harder at the pay-per-view than I could have ever pushed myself. There’s one thing you did besides being a great champion, you made this an international championship.
“When Tony Khan came up with the idea for this tournament, I thought it was a great idea. Because I want to face the best. I will be watching closer than all of you fans.”
Trios Match!
The Opps—Samoa Joe, Shibata, & HOOK
vs.
Vinny Pacifico, Eli Theseus, & Gabriel Aeros!
Samoa Joe jabbed and hammered away at the opposition. Hook tagged in and continued to dish out punishment on Gabriel Aeros. Shibata came in and cleaned house on all three members of the opposing team. Shibata finished things off with the PK and scored the pin.
“The Opps are all business,” said Taz.
Ricochet was backstage with words for Shibata!
Ricochet: “Just because I got screwed at Revolution doesn’t mean my quest for gold is over. Kenny’s belt looks pretty, but the belt would look better around my waist. Shibata, I know who you are, I know what you’re capable of, but I’m giving you the opposition to quit and not show up to Collision this Saturday. It’s still Ricochet’s time, that’s a promise.”
It was announced that next week on Dynamite it’ll be AEW World champion Jon Moxley vs. “The Rated R Superstar” Cope in a Street Fight for the title! And Swerve Strickland faces the winner for the AEW World title at AEW DYNASTY on Sunday, April 6th, live on pay-per-view!
The cameras caught up with Swerve backstage after the pay-per-view!
Swerve: “One year ago I made history by becoming the first Black AEW World champion and at Dynasty I’m going to make history again.”
Cope: “I don’t know if you noticed but I didn’t lose tonight so there’s a chance that by the time Dynasty comes around, you’ll be facing me. Good luck.”
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley!
Mox: “The Rated R Superstar thinks I should feel lucky. Like I was given some kind of gift at Revolution. I scored the game winning shot at the buzzer, and I’ll do that every single time. But I should have put him on ice before Christian even laced his boots. But I underestimated Cope. Whatever he is made of it is rare.
“But you want to complain about the rules? Take the rules. Take whatever you want, take the rules, call it a Street Fight. You take the rules, I’ll take your excuses. My dad always said, ‘Measure twice, cut once.’ I underestimated Cope’s perseverance but there is a reason why I am World champion. But I never make the same mistake twice.”
Hologram (with Harleygram) & Powerhouse Hobbs
vs.
“The Machine” Brian Cage
& Dralistico (with The Beast Mortos)!
Dralistico chopped Hologram to the mat and then tried to rip Hologram’s mask off. Cage tagged in and went for a press slam, but Hologram turned it into a hurracanrana. Hologram went for a tope, but Cage caught him and converted it into a vertical suplex. The Beast Mortos stomped on Hologram. Harleygram ran over to distract Mortos with a dance, and it worked!
Hobbs tagged in and hit some big shots on the head of Dralistico. Cage came in and traded forearms with Hobbs. Hobbs powerslammed Cage for a near fall. Dralistico and Cage hit a German Suplex thrust kick combo on Hobbs. Cage power bombed Hologram and then buckle bombed Hologram right into Hobbs!
Hobbs got nailed with a running discus lariat from Cage! Hobbs fired back with a spine buster on the apron. Hologram jumped off the chest of Hobbs and landed onto Cage on the floor! Dralistico went for a springboard, but Hobbs countered with a spinebuster and scored the pin on Dralistico!
After the match, Mark Davis and Lance Archer walked out. They taunted Hobbs.
Alicia Atout caught up with the AEW World Tag Team Champions the Hurt Syndicate after the pay-per-view.
MVP: “They are the baddest, now it’s time to be the chilliest. Take a week off and we’ll come back next week. The Hurt Syndicate are the most dominant faction in professional wrestling today. They don’t want time off. They want to hurt people.”
Up next: AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm!
Toni: “With stitches in my lip, staples in my head, and glass in my ass, I stand before you to tell you that this tramp is still the champ! This past Sunday at Revolution, it was my Hollywood ending and a chunk of my heart will be gone forever. But when I look at my title, it is well worth it.
“And now it is time for a new beginning. This is the most talented locker room in all of professional wrestling. But we have so many World champions. When you fight with me, it’s like visiting the zoo. Because I bleed like a pig, and I will eat you like a lion. I promise you’ll never hear me meow. It will be messy, and it will be sweaty, but it will always be timeless!”
Megan Bayne blindsided Toni, interrupting the moment! Bayne made a statement at the expense of Toni Storm!
AEW DYNASTY International Championship Eliminator Tournament Match!
The Beast Mortos vs. Wild Card!
The Wild Card was “Speedball” Mike Bailey!
There will be four first round matches on Dynamite and Collision. The winners will fight next Wednesday on Dynamite in a 4-way Eliminator, with the winner earning a title shot against Kenny Omega at the DYNASTY pay-per-view!
Bailey used his legs to kick at Mortos. Bailey nailed The Beast with a beautiful high round kick. He rocked the head of Mortos with rapid fire kicks. The Beast Mortos rammed into Bailey with a shoulder block. Speedball took to the skies, flipping over the top rope and wiping out the Beast!
Speedball connected with a running shooting star press. Bailey power bombed the Beast out of the corner. Mortos crushed Bailey with a Samoan Drop for a near fall. The Beast Mortos press slammed Bailey off the top rope, but Bailey kicked out at the two-count!
The Beast Mortos bashed Bailey with a discus lariat. Bailey retaliated with a standing moonsault knee dropkick and then knocked out Mortos with a crescent kick to score the victory and punch his ticket for next week!
Renee Paquette was backstage with Christian Cage and The Patriarchy!
Christian Cage: “You’re related to Jon Moxley, and I refuse to speak with anyone related to Jon Moxley. I am still the undisputed next AEW World Champion. When I signed my contract, I said it was for a one on one with Cope. The ref turned it into a three way. I did not tap out or pass out. I was simply relegating my breathing—”
Nick Wayne: “You’re just making excuses. You’re lying. You’re lying to us. If you stuck with the plan, you’d be AEW World champion right now. So you owe us all an explanation and an apology.”
Christian: “I’m sorry it’s come to this, Nick.”
Christian shoved Nick Wayne!
Christian: “How many World titles have you ever won? How many World titles has your biological father ever won? I am going to be the AEW World champion if it’s the last thing I do on this planet. Keep riding my coattails because the next time we have this conversation will be the last one!”
Lexy Nair attempted to interview MJF backstage after REVOLUTION!
MJF punched the mirror and called himself a fraud!
Up next: MJF came down to the ring!
MJF: “I have a splitting headache. My hand hurts. My body hurts. But what hurts the most is the fact that I know it, all you stupid people at home know it, I had that match won on Sunday. But your cowardly cowboy decided to cheap shot me just like he did in 2019. Congrats, Hangman.
“They can chant your name all they want because I’m not upset anymore, and I’ll tell you why. The fact of the matter is, Hangman, I am ten times smarter than you and your stupid fans ever will be. I will get mine, cowboy, so heed these words. This thing between us ain’t over yet, not by a long shot.”
MVP walked down to the ring by himself!
MJF: “MVP.”
MVP: “MJF.”
They hugged one another.
MVP: “I’ve been doing well, but I came out here to talk to you. I’m proud of you. You’re not the same 18-year old kid I met eight years ago. When young MJF was 18 years old, he once volunteered to drive me on a trip, just to ask questions about the professional wrestling business.
“His intelligence early on showed me this was a kid to be reckoned with. And we got to meet long after that at a small indie show, and I saw you had huge aura. You had a certain intuition that you can’t teach. You told me back then you’d be a main event World champion, and you did everything you said you were going to do, and I’m proud of you.
“But what I’m not proud of is what happened to you on Sunday. Why are you out here talking to you about these people about what happened to you on Sunday? How come you’re not angry? How come you’re not hurting people? You see, I know the answer to that question. You have lost your edge. The boys in the back don’t respect you anymore. Even worse, they don’t fear you. You know who they do fear? They fear The Hurt Syndicate. And that, my friend, is what you are missing.
“I was able to help you once a long time ago and just perhaps I may be able to help you again. Where MVP and the Hurt Syndicate go, championships go as well. This business card is a golden ticket. Maybe it’s time for you and me to talk some business.”
MJF pushed the business card away.
MJF: “With all due respect, I’m not the same bright-eyed kid I was all those years ago. I don’t need your help, and I don’t need your advice. I’m MJF and I was the World champion for 406 consecutive days.”
MVP: “Focus on the word was.”
MVP handed his card to MJF and walked away.
“Seems like MJF has a decision to make,” said Taz.
“Platinum” Max Caster came out after a commercial break!
Caster: “The people in Fresno are stupid, and whoever answers my open challenge is stupid as well. So let’s see who can survive my Open Challenge.”
Konosuke Takeshita answered the challenge this week!
Caster: “Hey, hey, Takeshita, there’s no way you’re here to fight me. I’m the best wrestler alive. I’d kill you. What are we doing? You must be here to invite me into the Don Callis Family, right? Imagine what I could do for the Don Callis Family. Maybe I could do the thing you couldn’t do and beat Kenny Omega.”
Takeshita cracked Caster with a forearm shot. Takeshita rocked Caster with the Raging Fire and pinned Caster, quickly back in the win column!
“Takeshita is going to rebuild some momentum with that win,” said Excalibur.
ROH World Champion Chris Jericho was backstage holding Gravity’s mask!
Jericho: “The temperature in the room has changed, hasn’t it Bandido. I stole your brother’s mask. I made your mother cry in front of you, Bandido. How do you come back from that, knowing the disappointment she has for you. Your life has changed forever, Bandido.”
Penelope Ford vs. Willow Nightingale!
Willow scoop slammed Ford. Willow used her power to wear out Penelope in the corner with short arm lariats. Penelope dropkicked Willow in the spine. Penelope followed up with a double knee stomp.
Willow walloped Penelope with a spinebuster! Willow planted Penelope with a power slam. Penelope hit a stunner, but Willow pounced Ford with a shoulder tackle and pinned Penelope, earning the victory in a hard fought battle.
After the match, Penelope cracked Willow with a steel chair! Kris Statlander sprinted to the ring and kicked the steel chair into Ford’s face. Megan Bayne blindsided Willow and Kris with a double clothesline.
“Megan Bayne is putting everybody on notice,” said Excalibur.
Renee Paquette was backstage with TBS Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Mone!
Renee informed us that Mercedes asked for Billie Starkz to join the segment.
Billie: “You’ve accomplished a lot here, but I’ve accomplished a lot. Wrestling is our life. Next week, I’m looking to change into a champion.”
Mercedes: “You are way out of your league. But next week, kiddo, I am going to prove there is a price to pay when you mess with Mercedes!”
Tony Schiavone welcome “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay to the ring!
Ospreay: “I made it out of Sunday alive. The scariest bit for me is that Kyle Fletcher, at that age, I was struggling to keep up with him. One day, Kyle Fletcher will be a World champion. And I hope when we meet again one day, I can still say I’m the better man.
“I’m in a bit of trouble because I lied to my wife about the cage match. She was happy I won the match, but she was furious when I jumped off the cage! Luckily, I charmed my way out of it.
“I said I want to be the guy and to be the guy, there should be something around my waist, right? But next week Cope’s got his title match, and then at Dynasty, Swerve has his title shot. So when do I call my shot? It makes me wonder when it matters most.”
Will looked up at the All In: Texas banner!
Ospreay: “I want to be in the main event at All In: Texas. The only way I can get there is by entering the Owen Hart Tournament. I plan on going through everyone who stands in my way! If it’s Moxley, the king, a warning: an assassin is coming for the throne! I want to be the World champion because my name is Will Ospreay, and I am on another level!”
Renee Paquette was backstage to interview “Switchblade” Jay White!
Jay White: “For now I want to congratulate you, Will, on Revolution. After what happened on Sunday, everyone wants to know if I hit Cope with the briefcase on purpose. The answer is no. I said I would have that man’s back. He has a chance at redemption next week. And Swerve, I’ve given everything I can to take down the Death Riders and Jon Moxley and I’ll be damned if I’ll allow anyone else to take my rightful place to be the number one contender to the AEW World championship.”
Renee Paquette interviewed “Hangman” Adam Page!
MJF bumped into Page.
Page: “Max, last week you tried to light me on fire. I don’t believe you. When you do something like that you have to really mean it. Sunday, you let the mask slip, and I was right. You care what these people think about you.”
MJF: “I’m going to call your bluff. You’re on your high horse because you beat me. Here’s what happens next. I go on to be one of the greatest of all time. You’re going to scratch and claw all the way up the mountain and then you’ll come tumbling all the way down. When your mask slips off, I notice that your biggest insecurity is you don’t think you deserve their love. And you’re right. Because they’re going to be sick and tired of waiting for you to win that World title. But I will and I’ll be laughing my way up that mountain.”
Page: “Well, we’ll see, won’t we.”
AEW DYNASTY International Championship Eliminator Tournament Match!
“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. Hechicero!
Jim Ross joined the broadcast booth for the main event tonight.
Cassidy used a hurracanrana. Orange dodged a dropkick from his opponent. Hechicero drilled Orange with a dragon screw leg whip, punishing the leg. Hechicero followed up with a hammer lock into a back breaker.
Orange staggered Hechicero with a stundog millionaire and then a DDT! Orange climbed to the top turnbuckle and went for a diving elbow drop but Hechicero countered with an arm bar. Orange reached the ropes with his foot, breaking the hold. Orange locked in the mouse trap out of nowhere and pinned Hechicero!
“Speedball” Mike Bailey walked out after the match, smiling, and pointing at Orange Cassidy!
