Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Jim Ross were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
Our opening contest was a 6-man tag team bout, with The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) and “Broken” Matt Hardy squaring off against Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) & “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela!
Hardy’s vessel tonight was one of the old school, extreme variety!
Hardy and Quen started the match but the Bucks quickly tagged in for some tandem offense on Private Party. Janela entered the fray and ate some superkicks from the Bucks! Janela tagged out to Kassidy, but Kassidy got smoked by a boot from Nick Jackson!
Quen went over the top and took Nick to the outside. Janela followed up with a tope suicida and a Death Valley Driver on the floor!
“You have to imagine that the Bucks are still banged up from that Stadium Stampede Match this past Saturday night,” said Excalibur.
Nick Jackson avoided the Silly String finisher from Private Party. Janela avoided a superkick from Nick, but Nick inadvertently hit the Blade with it, who was on the other side of the guardrail watching. The Butcher and the Blade put a beating on Nick until Matt Jackson jumped over the rail to save his brother. Nick went right back to the match and gave a facebuster to Janela on the ramp!
Kassidy went for a bulldog, but Matt Hardy saw it coming and took Private Party and Janela to the woodshed, stacking them up like wood. Hardy did a moonsault onto the pile for a near fall!
“Matt Hardy is no spring chicken but he’s fighting like one,” noted Jim Ross.
Private Party went over the top and connected with stereo con giros on the Bucks, but Quen’s knee buckled after he landed. Kassidy tried to finish Matt Hardy on the inside, but the Bucks hit their “More Bang for Your Buck” finisher and the team pinned Kassidy. Matt Hardy checked on Marq Quen and helped him get to the back.
“Hopefully it’s just a tweak,” said Excalibur.
The Butcher and the Blade jumped the Bucks from behind while the Bucks had been celebrating their victory in the ring!
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, #FTR, pulled up in a low rider pick-up truck! #FTR approached the Bucks in the ring, but decided to go after the Butcher and the Blade instead! #FTR gave a spiked piledriver to the Blade and then finished off the Butcher!
#FTR and the Young Bucks had a stand-off in the ring. The Bucks tried to shake #FTR’s hands, but #FTR turned their backs and walked away confidently.
AEW World Champ Jon Moxley joined the AEW broadcast team for the next match, to get a bird’s eye view of Brian Cage!
Making his AEW DYNAMITE debut, Brian Cage (accompanied by Taz) vs. Lee Johnson!
Cage threw Lee across the ring like a ragdoll! He gave Lee a released German suplex right over his head! Cage powerbombed Lee, picked him right back up and gave him a bucklebomb!
Cage finished Lee with the Drill Claw!
“It was all academic at that point,” said Excalibur.
Taz took the microphone and from beside Brian Cage in the ring, addressed Jon Moxley:
“At Fyter Fest, you’re dealing with that. That’s a machine. Big boy here is going to tear the heart right out of your chest Moxley. That’s Brian Cage—'The Machine.’ Beat him if you can, survive if he lets you!”
“Well, this is gonna be fun,” smirked Mox to the broadcast team as he stood up and peered at Cage.
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. provided viewers with an update on her recent injury and the recovery process. Baker was rolled out in a wheelchair.
Tony Schiavone said it was time for “The Rules of Being a Role Model” and handed the microphone to Baker.
“Rule #3—Don’t hurt the role model,” said Dr. Britt Baker.
“Last week’s assault that left me with a broken tibia was not an accident. It was a conspiracy. It was a three on one attack probably planned for months, if not since the start of AEW. Kris Statlander, you being an alien is a crock! Shida—broke my nose, fraudulent champion, cheater, conspirator. Nyla Rose—she couldn’t have guided herself away from my fragile face? Conspirator.
“A web of conspiracy all centered around the brains of the operation—AEW referee Aubrey Edwards—coincidence that she was there every time I was injured? You all have been put on notice. You tried to take me out, but the jokes on you, because I will be back at ALL OUT,” warned Dr. Baker.
Alex Marvez interviewed The Inner Circle backstage and asked for details about the pep rally.
“It’s going to be one of the greatest spectacles in AEW history. We are getting back on track after being robbed at—”
Orange Cassidy was seen roaming around in the background and Jericho was distracted by him. Jericho was frustrated by Orange’s presence and cut the interview short.
Newly crowned AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida vs. Christi Jaynes (in a non-title match)!
They slugged it out in the ring and Shida nailed Jaynes on the collar bone. Jaynes took down Shida with an arm drag from the top rope! Shida sent Jaynes face first into the top turnbuckle. Shida used a running knee and then a back breaker on Jaynes.
“Very basic but very effective,” said Jim Ross.
Shida dropped Jaynes with a vertical suplex for a two-count. Jaynes blasted Shida with a shot, knocking her off the top turnbuckle. Jaynes went for a sunset flip from the top and then a jab to Shida’s temple for a near fall.
Shida gave Jaynes two running knees, but Jaynes kicked out! Shida pinned Jaynes after a stiff Falcon Arrow!
“Shida continues her winning ways and the field is wide open,” noted Excalibur.
The inaugural TNT Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody came down to the ring to be interviewed by Tony Schiavone!
“Tony do you know why Tom Brady is my favorite quarterback? Tom Brady was not first picked. Yet his legacy endured. I am the very first champion of America’s greatest network. If you think my story is one of favoritism or nepotism, think again.
“I paid my dues and grew up right in front of you. My mother taught me everything I need to know about grit. You can have all the talent in the world and you can shove it up your ass! If you stand next to me on the track, I will outwork you.
“If you are someone who is critical of me from bell to bell, watch what I do next. Watch the pace I set. I will stand here every week on TNT. This is an open challenge. It is my obligation to give you, the fans, my best. So, follow me: This is where the fun begins,” concluded Cody.
SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) vs. Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian (with Penelope Ford)!
The winners here get an AEW World Tag Team Championship match next week on DYNAMITE against current tag champs “Hangman” Adam Page and Kenny Omega!
Jimmy and Sabian got the early jump with an aggressive start on SCU. The bang rang and Kazarian took down Sabian with a lariat. Sky was tagged in and dropped Sabian across his knee for a near fall.
Jimmy was tagged in but Kaz took him to the mat with a deep arm drag. Sky and Kaz worked over Jimmy with quick tags in and out. Kaz got a near fall on Jimmy with a release German suplex! Jimmy reversed an O’Connor roll from Kaz and tagged in Sabian. Kaz was poked in the eye after a catapult from Sabian.
“Frankie Kazarian realizes he’s in serious trouble here,” said Excalibur.
Frankie got an adrenalize rush and made the tag to Scorpio Sky, who cleaned house! Sky hit a twisting cutter on Sabian, but Jimmy ran in to make the save for his team. Kaz came in for SCU and connected with an assisted swinging DDT on Jimmy for a near fall!
SCU isolated Jimmy and were going to attempt the SCU Later finisher but Penelope Ford grabbed Kaz by the leg. Sky was pinned by Jimmy after a Michinoku driver combo!
“This was an upset!” said Tony Schiavone.
Up next—“Dynamite Battle Royal”—and the winner receives the first opportunity at the TNT Championship on next week’s DYNAMITE against champ “The American Nightmare” Cody!
As Orange Cassidy walked to the ring, he was jumped by Santana and Ortiz and knocked out with madballs to the back of the head.
MJF stood perched on the top turnbuckle, protected by Wardlow. Luther sent Marko for a ride with a hip toss, but Luther was thrown over the top after a choke slam from Luchasaurus!
Sonny Kiss was chucked over the top by Wardlow, and MJF took the boots to Sonny on the outside.
Colt Cabana and MJF stared each other down and began trading shots, but “Boom Boom” got the better of MJF. Cabana gave the Flying Apple to Billy Gunn, but Billy used Colt’s momentum to eliminate him over the top. The Dark Order were sitting on the outside and handed Cabana some literature that no doubt contained propaganda for The Dark Order.
Brandon Cutler was nearly eliminated by Luchasaurus, but he pulled himself up by the ropes before both feet touched the floor. Peter Avalon and Cutler duked it out on the ring apron before eliminating one another simultaneously!
Marko hit Wardlow with a missile dropkick but Wardlow hardly budged! Christopher Daniels tried to powerbomb Marko out of the ring, but Marko held on and eliminated Daniels. Wardlow caught Marko and hurled him out of the ring, sending him crashing down onto Christopher Daniels.
Wardlow and MJF double teamed Luchasaurus until Billy Gunn stopped them with hard strikes. Billy Gunn and Luchasaurus began exchanging right hands with one another until they were both eliminated by Wardlow and MJF!
Wardlow and MJF started stomping on Jungle Boy in the corner. Orange Cassidy rolled into the ring out of nowhere. Cassidy ducked a right hand by MJF and MJF accidentally hit Wardlow instead. Wardlow was wiped out, and then MJF was eliminated by Jungle Boy!
Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy were the final two wrestlers in the ring! Jungle Boy was sent into the ropes and ate two Superman-style elbows from Orange Cassidy! Jungle Boy rallied back and used his legs to pull Orange Cassidy over the top to the floor to eliminate him. Jungle Boy held onto the ropes with his legs and won the match!
It was time for the “Pep Rally” for Le Champion Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle (Jake Hager, “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara, Santana & Ortiz)!
Vickie Guerrero stole pompoms from The Inner Circle cheerleaders and then introduced The Inner Circle!
Jericho welcomed everyone to the pep rally. Jericho said despite the outcome of the Stadium Stampede Match at AEW’s DOUBLE OR NOTHING, “Like five sexy phoenixes, we will rise again.”
The Inner Circle began tossing out official Stadium Stampede Match merchandise to the ringside spectators.
Sammy notified his friends that even though they didn’t win, he got everyone in The Inner Circle participation trophies. Santana handed out various gifts from his basket to his friends, including discount Timberland boots to Jake Hager. Jericho said he didn’t want Sammy on nerdy crutches, so Jericho gave him a scooter to take its place. Jake Hager said the best gift he could give to his friends was a poem he wrote for The Inner Circle.
Sammy asked Jericho what he wanted after Jericho handed out all these gifts to everyone else.
“What I really want is Mike Tyson’s head on a platter,” said Jericho.
“I couldn’t get you Tyson’s head on a platter, but I got you a cheese platter and a little bit of the bubbly!” said Sammy.
“Iron” Mike Tyson answered the call of Le Champion Chris Jericho and came to the ring wearing an AEW t-shirt, along with his posse (which consisted of Henry Cejudo, Vitor Belfort, and Rashad Evans)!
“I have been dreaming of this moment for ten years. I trusted you and you knocked me out,” said Jericho.
“Because you’re a sucker,” said Tyson.
“I’m going to give you one chance to apologize to me or I’m going to knock you the hell out,” warned Jericho.
Jericho and Tyson shoved each other and all hell broke loose!
“It’s all breaking down in Jacksonville tonight!” said Jim Ross.
Jericho was restrained by half the locker room and The Inner Circle, and Tyson was pulled back by the other half of the locker room and his posse!
“It’s Jericho! It’s Tyson! It’s complete bedlam!” said Jim Ross.
