AEW Rampage: Holiday Bash 2024 Preview

Between the two Continental Classic bouts, the AEW Women's World Title fight, and the wild trios war involving The Death Riders and Jon Moxley's WORLDS END 2024 World Title challengers, DYNAMITE: HOLIDAY BASH 2024 was as action-packed as it gets! As the C2 draws closer to its culmination, every single match is even more essential than the previous, especially in the case of the Gold League where the race is so tight! That's why tonight, when House of Black's Brody King takes on Komander, the outcome is crucial to Brody's goal of competing on December 28th and to Komander not being the one to finish with a zero in this league. Last year Jay Lethal was the only man to finish scoreless, but this year both Komander and The Beast Mortos are on the verge of suffering the same fate! We will also see Harley Cameron face the WRESTLE DYNASTY 2025-bound Willow Nightingale, ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage & AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita unite against Mark Davis & Powerhouse Hobbs, plus Action Andretti & Lio Rush in tag action after their victory over Top Flight last week!

RAMPAGE gets underway tonight at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT and the AEW faithful can get themselves prepared for it with a visit to AEW's official YouTube channel to watch highlights from DYNAMITE, as well as previous editions of RAMPAGE and COLLISION! Then join us in New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday night for CHRISTMAS COLLISION featuring Continental Classic action in the Gold League as Will Ospreay fights Ricochet and in the Blue League with TNT Champion Daniel Garcia versus Shelton Benjamin! Then it's Sunday afternoon's taping of DYNAMITE ON 34TH STREET & RAMPAGE: NEW YEAR'S SMASH 2024 right back in the historic Hammerstein! It's all about WORLDS END 2024 in just eight days time and who will make the trip to Orlando for AEW's last pay-per-view extravaganza of the year!

CONTINENTAL CLASSIC...

Gold League

Brody King(3) vs. Komander(0)

Brody King is not a happy man after dropping two straight matches in the Continental Classic to Claudio Castagnoli and Ricochet. Out of fairness to the House of Black member, it should be noted that neither of those loses came about in the cleanest fashion. Castagnoli resorted to a low blow to best King while Ricochet took advantage of a turnbuckle Brody himself unintentionally exposed, though it still took two Spirit Guns to fell the House's behemoth.

Suffice to say that tonight on RAMPAGE, when Brody King is unleashed in his fourth C2 battle, he's going to be out for blood at Komander's expense. After DYNAMITE: HOLIDAY BASH 2024 the top of the Gold League is in a four-way tie between Claudio, Ricochet, Will Ospreay, and Darby Allin, each with six points, meaning the spot at the top is still wide open. If Brody can take the victory tonight, as well as in his final match against Ospreay, and put up nine points overall, it would go a long way towards helping Brody King contend for the top spot. He's got to take it one match at a time, but because of Ospreay's loss to Darby, this House of Black member is now in a better position than he was Wednesday morning.

As for Komander, after this his last remaining fight will be with Claudio Castagnoli, and quite frankly with zero points to his name (one being a loss he inherited from Juice Robinson), he's out of luck in terms of winning the Gold League. There's an outside chance he could score six points and find himself in the running if all the chips fall in the right spot, but much like The Beast Mortos in the Blue League, victories against Claudio or Brody King tonight are more spoiler to his opponent than boon to his chances.

So how will the Gold League look after RAMPAGE and this clash between Brody King and Komander? Will Brody make it a five-way tie with his six points, or will Komander dash Brody's hopes of fighting for the finals at WORLDS END 2024?

SINGLES MATCH...

Willow Nightingale vs. Harley Cameron

Last week on COLLISON: WINTER IS COMING 2024 Willow Nightingale secured her spot at WRESTLE DYNASTY 2025's International Women's Cup alongside ROH Women's World Champion Athena, CMLL's Persephone, and a Stardom athlete to be determined on their December 22nd event. It's a huge milestone for Willow for sure, but that fight is still two weeks away and plenty can happen between now and then. For example, in taking up a fight with Harley Cameron, Willow can't possible predict what she's got in store tonight on RAMPAGE!

This will mark their second meeting in 2024, third overall, and though Nightingale claimed victory in both prior engagements, the in-ring growth Harley has experienced over the course of this year has been quite remarkable. It's no doubt due to her stepping into the ring with world-class athletes like Willow, Thunder Rosa, Jamie Hayter, and Mina Shirakawa, just to name a few, but those crucial victories have eluded her throughout 2024. With only one more week of AEW action to go this year, it would be a tremendous feat for Harley to defeat a former TBS Champion, especially one headed for the Tokyo Dome on January 5th, and it would certainly put her in quite the advantageous position heading into 2025 depending on how Willow fares on that night.

Can Harley Cameron pull off the huge upset tonight on RAMPAGE, or will it be Willow Nightingale who continues to build momentum as she prepares for her return to Japan?

TAG TEAM BATTLE...

The Don Callis Family (AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita & ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage) vs. Mark Davis & Powerhouse Hobbs ()

It's going to be quite the physical challenge tonight on RAMPAGE with this tag team battle of titans! On one side it will be ROH World TV Champion Brian Cage and AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita, the two title holders of The Don Callis Family, while on the other it will be Takeshita's WORLDS END 2024 challenger Powerhouse Hobbs and Kyle Fletcher's former Aussie Open tag partner Mark Davis!

It was just one week ago at RAMPAGE: WINTER IS COMING 2024 that Hobbs and Davis handed Takeshita and “The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer a loss in tag team action, so this battle is as much about avenging that defeat as it is about Takeshita getting an advantage prior to December 28th! No doubt Callis himself will be lurking at ringside, probably sharing his pearls of wisdom with the commentary team as he's been known to do when his Family is in action, but will Lance Archer and/or Kyle Fletcher be at their side as well to sway this fight for The DCF?

-Action Andretti & Lio Rush in action!
