AEW Rampage Preview for August 23, 2024

Listen closely and you can hear the seconds ticking away as the clock counts down to ALL IN: LONDON 2024 this Sunday! But before we get to Wembley Stadium, there are a few more nights of business to attend, as well as a huge ALL IN: LONDON CELEBRATION at Boxpark Wembley on Saturday afternoon! The first order of business takes place tonight on RAMPAGE where The Conglomeration will be in Trios combat against the unique combination of Brian Cage, Johnny TV, and The Beast Mortos, plus Gates of Agony will be in tag team competition against Iron Savages, Mina Shirakawa is in action on RAMPAGE for the first time since June, and Undisputed Kingdom's Roderick Strong welcomes Fuego Del Sol back to AEW competition for the first time since February 20, 2023!

RAMPAGE kicks off at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, and fans can get ready for the night by dropping in on the official AEW YouTube channel to catch highlights from DYNAMITE, COLLISION, RAMPAGE, and more! Then join us Saturday night for COLLISION, the final stop before AEW returns to Wembley Stadium for the biggest event of All Elite Wrestling's year with ALL IN: LONDON 2024!  Yet even after that PPV extravaganza the fights never stops because AEW returns to the States for a DYNAMITE from Champaign, IL on August 28th, our first time back since December 2019!

TRIOS ACTION...

The Conglomeration (ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, & Tomohiro Ishii)

vs. Brian Cage, Johnny TV, & The Beast Mortos

We've seen assorted combinations of The Conglomeration in action over the last several months since they gelled together. Overall they've been a pretty successful unit, this particular assemblage scoring a victory over Premier Athletes a few weeks ago, but there are two men wrapped up in this trios battle who've had a particularly rough history against one another in the last few weeks, The Beast Mortos and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe. It was less than one month ago when the Conglomeration permutation of Briscoe, Ishii, and Orange Cassidy lost a trios contest to Mortos, Roderick Strong, and RUSH when Mark was pinned by The Beast Mortos.

That direct pinfall on the ROH World Champion led to The Beast Mortos earning a ROH World Title shot against Mark Briscoe on last night's episode of ROH ON HONOR CLUB (www.watchroh.com), and though the monstrous luchador failed in that opportunity, he's got another trios bout on tap against The Conglomeration tonight on RAMPAGE! Can Mortos get another leg-up on “Chicken” after their ROH World Championship match, or will this Conglomeration combination score its second win before Orange swaps spots with Ishii for COLLISION, and all four men head towards ALL IN: LONDON 2024 in just two days?

ONE-ON-ONE...

Roderick Strong vs. Fuego Del Sol

Frustrated in his endeavor to earn that #1 position in the Casino Gauntlet Match this Sunday night, a spot that would have put him in an advantageous position to earn a future AEW World Championship match, Roderick Strong aims to show anyone else looking to use that Casino Gauntlet match to their benefit what he's got in store for them. Unfortunately for Texas' own Fuego Del Sol, Roddy plans on using him to send the warning with little regard for the fact that tonight marks Fuego's return to AEW competition after eighteen months, and his first RAMPAGE bout since 9/30/22.

Fuego would love to make this homecoming a victorious one, even though he's got his hands full with “The Messiah of the Backbreaker”, but if there's one thing for sure about Fuego's AEW experiences, he is not a man to back down from a fight no matter how big and bad his foe may be! This could be an upsetting night for Roderick Strong, or the night Roddy breaks this man simply because he can...

SINGLES MATCH...

Mina Shirakawa vs. Robyn Renegade

With everything going on between AEW Women's World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm and “The Glamour” Mariah May, Mina Shirakawa has returned to All Elite Wrestling at quite a complicated point in the lives of the two women she's most bonded with in AEW. Though there was plenty of hostility prior to the Storm/Shirakawa clash at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024, plenty of jockeying for position in the graces of Mariah May, once the title fight was finished with Toni Storm retaining, the three women came together.

Following that bout Mina returned to Stardom, lost the Artist of Stardom (trios) title, then came back to DYNAMITE in the above embedded interview with Renee Paquette. Well we know Mina is here in AEW for quite some time, missing Stardom's 5Star Grand Prix Tournament to be here, so one can't help but wonder if the situation with Toni and Mariah is part of the reason for her return to the AEW stage.

Perhaps we will see where her interests lie as that bout comes to being in just two days, but for now fans will have to enjoy seeing Mina Shirakawa in action tonight on RAMPAGE against the double-tough Robyn Renegade. As a solo competitor, Robyn has been in the mix with Kris Statlander, Julia Hart, Thunder Rosa, Deonna Purrazzo, and Willow Nightingale just to name check a handful of the top tier talent she's thrown down with, so she's garnered a great deal of top tier experience during her AEW tenure. Robyn is going to give Mina a fight, there's no question about that, but can she put all she's learned together to actually score victory over the woman who's held four different Stardom titles?

TAG TEAM BOUT...

The Von Erichs (Marshall & Ross) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

As two-thirds of the ROH World Six-Man Champions alongside Dustin Rhodes, Marshall and Ross Von Erich have gotten a target on their back very early into the AEW/ROH careers. Part of that is due to being a championship team, part of that is due to the weight their family name carries in professional wrestling, but what the men who've faced them in AEW and ROH thus far have learned is that these two men are no rookies trying to live off that Von Erich name.

Ross and Marshall are superb athletes, a pair who've been putting in the work for a dozen years, and are now in the position they are in because of that work. They earned the ROH Six-Man Titles in a fight with Undisputed Kingdom, one of the toughest trios in wrestling today, and have already successfully retained them on two occasions during ROH ON HONOR CLUB episodes, but tonight marks their first  foray into tag team wrestling since their AEW debut at the end of 2023!

They've got their hands full with the unpredictable Outrunners, two men whose style is considered somewhat of a throwback, and whose personalities are quite, shall we say, eccentric. That eccentricity doesn't take away from their superb continuity as a tag team though, and The Outrunners are more than capable of giving the Von Erich brothers a rude awakening to AEW's tag team division!

TAG TEAM CONTEST...

Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson)

Gates of Agony and Iron Savages are four of the roughest, toughest, beefiest men in the AEW locker room, and tonight on RAMPAGE they will throw down for the first time! There's not much more to say about this match than that, just two teams looking to climb the ranks of the division and earn themselves a championship fight down the line, it just so happens these are four meat machines looking to fight this Friday night!

Less than forty-eight hours before ALL IN: LONDON 2024, RAMPAGE gets underway at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, and fans can prepare for the fights with a visit to the official AEW YouTube channel for highlights from DYNAMITE, COLLISION, RAMPAGE, and everything else that's brought us to London!! Then be sure to join us on Saturday night for COLLISION, the last night of action before AEW once more walks into Wembley Stadium for the biggest event on the All Elite Wrestling calendar, ALL IN: LONDON 2024! No matter what happens inside Wembley, AEW is right back on the road next Wednesday night when AEW returns to Champaign, IL for the first time since December 2019 for a DYNAMITE full of the ALL IN: LONDON 2024 fallout!
