AEW Rampage Preview for August 30, 2024

With the sun setting on ALL IN: LONDON 2024, the eyes of All Elite Wrestling, its fans, and all the members of the AEW locker room now turn towards Chicago and the NOW Arena for ALL OUT 2024 on Saturday September 7th. With less than two weeks to go before that annual extravaganza, every night means the potential to either make the cut or watch from the sidelines. That means tonight's RAMPAGE is loaded for action with plenty of hungry competitors wanting their spot on September 7th! We've got Konosuke Takeshita returning from NJPW and the G1 Climax Tournament to fight Komander, The Beast Mortos, and Lio Rush in a Four-Way! We've got Nyla Rose in action, The Grizzled Young Vets in action, Mina Shirakawa in action, and a big Three-Way Tag bout featuring Undisputed Kingdom, Private Party, and the Jay Lethal/Jeff Jarrett tandem!

The excitement kicks off at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, or check here for how to watch outside the United States, but regardless of where you are around the world, you can visit the official AEW YouTube channel to catch highlights from DYNAMITE, COLLISION, RAMPAGE, as well as post-match fallout from ALL IN: LONDON 2024, to get ready for RAMPAGE! Then tomorrow night All Elite Wrestling is off to Sioux Falls, SD for COLLISION at the Denny Sanford Premier Center before heading to Milwaukee to kick off ALL OUT 2024 week with our return to the UWM Panther Arena on September 4th!

FOUR-WAY MATCH...

“The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita vs. The Beast Mortos vs. Komander vs. Lio Rush

Konosuke Takeshita has been absent from AEW television since the July 13th edition of COLLISION, but that doesn't mean he's been hanging at home resting his weary bones or streaming movies sitting on his couch. In fact his life has been the exact opposite of that as Takeshita fulfilled a dream of competing in New Japan Pro Wrestling's G1 Climax Tournament, a tournament that awards the winner with a future shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Tetsuya Naito. Though it was Zack Sabre Jr. who defeated Yota Tsuji in the Finals to earn that shot, Takeshita netted himself ten points to force a B Block playoff against Tsuji to determine who would face David Finlay in the B Block Finals.

Along the way Takeshita netted himself wins against Ren Narita, El Phantasmo, HENARE, current IWGP World TV Champion Jeff Cobb, and even against Yota Tsuji in their opening tournament match. To say that “The Alpha” was impressive would be a bit of an understatement, and now this Don Callis Family member is back in AEW to send a message to everyone else about how far he's come through that G1 experience.

That being said, Takeshita has his hands full tonight on RAMPAGE as he goes into Four-Way combat against two high-flying individuals in Lio Rush and Komander, as well as a hard-hitting monster in The Beast Mortos. Now Takeshita does hold a victory over Komander from a March RAMPAGE battle, and he previously shared the ring with Lio Rush at FORBIDDEN DOOR 2024 in the TNT Title Ladder match, but he's never stepped into the ring with The Beast Mortos before tonight.

Can Takeshita face down these odds and show the AEW faithful, as well as the AEW locker room, what their future holds? Or will one of these other three men step up to humble The DCF member in his first match back?

THREE-WAY TAG BOUT...

Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

This is quite the interesting mix of tag teams all looking to get their footing, or regain it, as All Elite Wrestling moves forward out of ALL IN: LONDON 2024. Private Party, despite being a day one team in AEW, has been frustrated multiple times over in their attempts to ascend to the top of the division. They've got all the talent in the world, but haven't challenged for the World Tag Titles in two years, and want nothing more than to get back into contention. They're coming into this off a tag team victory in their last bout three weeks ago on RAMPAGE, and scoring the fall on either of their opponents would be a boon to their futures for sure.

Then there is Undisputed Kingdom, looking to get their situation back on track after losing the ROH World Tag Titles to Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara, while simultaneously serving as support for Roderick Strong now that he's got his eye on HOOK's FTW Championship. Feeling rather naked after holding the ROH Tag Titles for 234 days, Taven and Bennett need this one to get back into the title picture and reestablish their position in the division.

Then there is the tandem of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal, two best friends coming into this one having defeated The Outrunners in their last tag team battle, looking to establish themselves in the division after having spent most of the year engaged in other endeavors such as Jarrett's quest to win The Owen, his decision to serve as a motivational factor for Bryan Danielson, and these issues with Hangman Page. Can they get the victory and show the world what kind of threat they can be in the division?

This contest has definite implications on the face of the tag team division, and all pairs are aiming to make sure it's their hands that get raised when the final bell tolls!

TAG TEAM CONTEST...

Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

After making a thunderous return to the AEW stage at ALL IN: LONDON 2024 at the expense of FTR, the Grizzled Young Veterans of James Drake and Zack Gibson are set for tag team action tonight on RAMPAGE! It's their first AEW bout since facing The Acclaimed back in April, and while that contest gave the AEW faithful of what the GYV bring to the table, they aim to teach the entire division why they need to grit their teeth. The Outrunners will experience that tonight, but for Drake and Gibson that's just the beginning, with the AEW World Tag Team Championship as the end game. Be it Young Bucks, FTR, an Acclaimed rematch, it doesn't matter who holds the belts, for GYV the fight will be brought to whoever are champions on sight!

ALSO FEATURING:

-“The Native Beast” Nyla Rose in action!

-Mina Shirakawa competes!

-And more!

RAMPAGE gets underway at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, or check here to see how to watch outside the United States, yet no matter where you may be, fans can always check in on AEW's official YouTube channel to catch highlights from DYNAMITE, COLLISION, and RAMPAGE, as well as post-match fallout from ALL IN: LONDON 2024, and more! Then, after RAMPAGE has ended, All Elite Wrestling heads to to Sioux Falls, SD for Saturday's COLLISION hailing from the Denny Sanford Premier Center! Then we get ALL OUT 2024 week underway in Milwaukee with AEW's return to the UWM Panther Arena on September 4th!
