PARKING LOT FIGHT...
The Blackpool Combat Club (ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley)
vs.
The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta)
The 50th edition of DYNAMITE, September 16th of 2020, that night The Best Friends met Santana and Ortiz in the parking lot of Daily's Place in Jacksonville to settle their issues. After thirteen minutes of combat, it was Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta who came out the other side with the victory, showing the world the kind of grit they possessed, and just how willing they were to get their hands dirty.
Fast forward to March 31st of 2021 and the Arcade Anarchy match pitting Chuck and Orange Cassidy against Miro and Kip Sabian, and although it had its more comedic moments, any fight that involves Miro requires a man to dig deep into their guts to bring the fight, and that's just what OC and Chuckie T to win that bout as well. But as Trent says in their interview below, any successes seemed to have stopped right there:
Over the last couple years, Chuck and Trent have been frustrated time and again, be it in championship bouts, trios matches, or tag matches, The Best Friends have proven unable to become champions thus far in All Elite Wrestling, they watched Wheeler Yuta choose The Blackpool Combat Club over their friendship, and they've been smashed down in every encounter involving The BCC prior to this past Wednesday night when Trent scored victory in the three way with Moxley and Penta.
But it is the actions of The Blackpool Combat Club that has brought everything full circle for The Best Friends, brought them back to Jacksonville, back to Daily's Place, and back to that familiar Parking Lot where they scored the biggest victory of their AEW career.
Yes it was three years ago, yes they've had to deal with their fair share of defeat since that night, and maybe some would argue that The Best Friends peaked early in AEW with that win over Santana and Ortiz, but that doesn't mean that all hope is lost. It's clear that the fire that led The Best Friends to victory that night, the grit they needed to beat Ortiz and Santana, it's clear that it's still inside Trent and Chuck, they just needed someone to drag it back to the surface.
Leave it to the most violent unit in AEW's history to force another to find their own bloodthirsty nature; The BCC did it to The Golden Elite at Blood & Guts and it ended up costing them the match, and now they've done the same to Best Friends which has led to their challenge for this fight on Friday night. Will this be a situation where The BCC's tactics turn in their favor, or will Best Friends use the violence of Mox, Claudio, and Yuta as motivation to bring out their most violent sides? Perhaps the environment itself will bring out the beasts who beat Ortiz and Santana three years ago?
Either way, this is going to be a violent piece of business, and no one is walking out unscathed!
TRIOS MATCH...
“Limitless” Keith Lee & The Hardys (Matt & Jeff) vs. Kip Sabian, The Butcher, & The Blade
As Matt Hardy said in the interview embedded above, he and Jeff hold The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian responsible for being eliminated from the Tag Team Battle Royal, and have challenged those men to come for a fight on Friday night!
Butcher and Blade have their shared history with Matt Hardy, running alongside his Hardy Family Office, and later the AHFO, for quite some time, before Matt saw the error of his ways and was forcibly removed from the equation by Andrade. As a result, Jeff made his initial arrival into AEW to side with his brother against the likes of Butcher and Blade, and to this day the bad blood between the men continues to exist in one form or another.
It erupts this Friday night in this Trios bout when the imposing threesome of Kip, Butcher, and Blade, with Penelope Ford at their side, come to combat The Hardys and “Limitless” Keith Lee! With all the animosity between these men, this one is liable to get ugly on RAMPAGE!
THE MOGUL EMBASSY IN ACTION...
It's been nearly two weeks since AR Fox showed the world, and more specifically Darby Allin, just who he is at his core. He stabbed Darby in the back, justifying it by saying Allin didn't help him out in the years since the time Allin spent living on Fox's couch, and those issues with Darby have splashed onto Nick Wayne as well.
As can be seen in that video above, The Mogul Embassy found their way to Wayne's training facility, and absolutely decimated the young man just to send a message to the former 2-Time TNT Champion. Darby, and everyone around him, is at risk of feeling The Mogul Embassy's wrath, and this Friday night on RAMPAGE, Fox and Swerve will be in tag team action to continue sending a message to Darby and any who'd choose to support him.
ONE-ON-ONE...
Anna Jay vs. Skye Blue
Heading into this fight, Skye Blue has won two consecutive bouts against Anna Jay. The first in the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 Women's Owen Hart Tournament, and the second in a match taking place prior to DYNAMITE in Albany, NY on July 26th. They were two huge victories for young Skye, particularly that win in The Owen, but this Friday night on RAMPAGE, Anna is looking to even some scores with Skye.
With all the turmoil in the Jericho Appreciation Society swirling around her, can Anna Jay focus on the task at hand to finally take down Skye Blue? Or will these outside distractions interfere in “The Queen Slayer” being able to zone in on Skye and lead to the young woman scoring her third consecutive victory over Anna Jay?
RAMPAGE begins at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, as well as at AEWPlus.com for our international audiences, and features a return to Jacksonville for a Parking Lot Fight between The BCC and Best Friends! Plus Skye Blue and Anna Jay lock horns once again, AR Fox and Swerve Strickland go into tag team action, and Kieth Lee teams with The Hardys for a trios bout against Kip Sabian, Blade, and Butcher!
