AEW Rampage Preview for October 18, 2024

From the moment DYNAMITE took to the airwaves with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley's foreboding words, there was a different energy in the air, and it continued with Adam Cole's message to Maxwell Jacob Friedman. We felt it with Mercedes Moné defending her TBS Championship against Queen Aminata, The Elite fighting The Conglomeration, and with FTR returning to the action in part to back up ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe in his fight against The Learning Tree and in part to  raise awareness for charities supporting their beloved Asheville, NC in the wake of Hurricane Helene. That energy is carrying over to RAMPAGE tonight where we will see ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe versus The Butcher, Anna Jay and Trish Adora battle it out, Kyle O'Reilly in action, and MxM Collection getting a rematch against Private Party!

RAMPAGE begins at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, so fans have plenty of time to visit AEW's official YouTube channel to watch highlights from DYNAMITE, COLLISION, and RAMPAGE, as well as WRESTLEDREAM 2024 where Jon Moxley dethroned “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson to claim his fourth AEW World Title! Following RAMPAGE, AEW is bringing a double shot of action to the fans on Saturday with COLLISION and BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII featuring LFI vs. The Outrunners, AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May fighting Anna Jay in an Eliminator Match, AR Fox taking on Ricochet, and more! After that stacked night, join All Elite Wrestling for our return to Salt Lake City and the Maverik Center!

ONE-ON-ONE...

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe vs. The Butcher

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe has a fight on his hands next Wednesday night when he faces Chris Jericho in a Ladder War for the title around his waist, but before “Chicken” travels to Salt Lake City, he's set to face the behemoth known as The Butcher in singles competition! Now these two warriors have faced off in trios competition twice this year, and it was Mark's unit that emerged victorious in both of those encounters, but tonight's a whole different ballgame.

Mark is coming into this fight after going through one war with Chris Jericho at WRESTLEDREAM 2024, and with a Ladder one on his horizon in just five days. Mark and his late-brother Jay may be the originators of the Ladder War, but that only means there's no one more intimately familiar with what it does to a man's body and his career when all is said and done. Does that mean the ROH World Champ will play it safe tonight on RAMPAGE in order to conserve himself for Wednesday's title bout, or will Mark Briscoe throw caution to the wind, as he always does, in order to try and secure the victory?

AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ELIMINATOR MATCH...

Anna Jay vs. The Infantry's Trish Adora

Anna Jay has a huge opportunity at hand tomorrow night during BATTLE OF THE BELTS XII when she faces AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May in an Eliminator Match. It's been 14 months since the last time Anna fought for the title, a bout with Hikaru Shida on the 8/9/23 edition of DYNAMITE, and she aims to show “The Glamour” just what she picked up during that recent Stardom tour! For Trish Adora it's another opportunity to upset the apple cart, to throw a monkey wrench into the plan, because if she beats the woman scheduled to fight the World Champion, shouldn't that put her in a position to at least get an Eliminator Match of her own?

With a potential World Championship match at stake tomorrow night during BOTB XII, this match is a must-win scenario for Anna Jay? Will she be able to pick up that victory and parlay it into another when it's “The Glamour” Mariah May standing across the ring?

TAG TEAM REMATCH...

MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Two and a half months back MxM Collection handed Private Party a hard-fought loss on the 8/2/24 edition of RAMPAGE. Since then Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen fought to get themselves into the title picture, they challenged The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Titles at WRESTLEDREAM 2024 six days ago, and they had their hearts broken once again in their quest to become the top team in All Elite Wrestling. It's caused a great deal of frustration, it apparently has put them in a position where they're wondering if they should stay together as a team, and the garbage spewed by Stokely Hathaway doesn't help either. Yet they've also made a point to stand up for All Elite Wrestling in the face of AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and the gang at his side, and they've made a point to call The Elite, specifically AEW's EVP's, to task for doing absolutely nothing about Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta.

Along with Daniel Garica, they've even got a date next Wednesday night with Jack Perry and The Young Bucks for a trios battle, but before we get to Salt Lake City, Private Party has a rematch with MxM Collection on tap for tonight's RAMPAGE! Mansoor and Mason Madden are coming off a rough loss to The Acclaimed during WRESTLEDREAM 2024: ZERO HOUR and thus are looking to repeat their previous victory over Zay and Quen to get momentum back on their side. With both teams coming  into this off a loss, which pair will get back on track as we head towards the Maverick Arena next Wednesday night?
